Dave isn't going anywhere, nor should he. He just needs to coach better.

And f*ck Brad Edwards for extending him for no god damn reason.
Unless DP turns things around, Mason might be his last coaching gig. There is no way his base is $400k. He never would’ve left a loaded team at Bucknell for that.
Regardless, Mason isn’t buying out multiple years of a contract. It’s just not happening.

1) Reuter: he was billed as a game changer and he has not been so far.
Incorrect sir. My source tells me he is on the hot seat. They will make a change at the end of the season if the team does not compete in the A10.
I am not advocating anything, just providing information:

“Paulsen’s deal includes $400,000 in base salary and $300,000 in supplemental compensation. The bonus package is worth up to $400,000 annually...”
“If he is fired before the contract expires, Paulsen would receive half of his base salary for each of the remaining years of the deal.”
If we are correct that he is on contract through 2022 (I could have sworn I saw he was extended after last year but can’t find anything about it)
So, if we were to fire him at the end of this year’s contract, we would owe him $600k.
Funny, I guess there are always different ways to look at things as I was thinking that Brad did a good job negotiating that deal after reading that. It provides a high up-side to a coach, and I assume all moderately successful coaches think they will be hugely successful, and it provides a relatively easy out should things not go as planned.Interesting. If I were DP, I’d get a new agent ... that’s a terrible deal.

More college basketball HC contracts should be like this.Funny, I guess there are always different ways to look at things as I was thinking that Brad did a good job negotiating that deal after reading that. If he goes under .500 this season there better be a strong consideration to replace him.

I believe we can get a higher caliber coach this time around. The program and facilities are much better than what we could offer after Hewitt. We can get a young stud like McCall or a highly sought after assistant like what LaSalle got. The rebuild can go much quicker. And then start the rebuilding process all over again? Another four years minimum in the college basketball wilderness? Ugh.

So continue to be a .500 team until Paulsen retires? If that's the case lets go back to a lower tierd conference, the CAA will probably take us back. I want to see consistent wins again. But if Brad whiffed on hiring his guy, why should any of us believe he’ll do better next time? No guarantee whatsoever that we do better than DP.
