Or we overachieve and shock the haters.
Tom,
While we all know you hate Hewitt, it's like a broken record reading your posts about how we should fire him. You hate Hewitt, we get it, but he isn't going anywhere this year so stop bring down every thread about firing him. Just be happy to see some new players come in and drop the ball like the last batch.
If Edwards has already made up his mind about firing Hewitt, I hope he does it this summer after the new recruits are already acclimated.
Bigger question is does Edwards think its disrespect to fire the old AD's guy, while the old AD is still "working" at the school?
Really doubt Edwards comes in and fires Hewitt instantly. We're are stuck with him for another season. Plus if he was fired in July/August who is available to replace him anyway at that point?
The guy isn't just going to wake up tomorrow and become an excellent basketball coach.
Patrick Nero knew when he took over at GW that Karl Hobbs was not going to be his men's basketball coach for the long term, so he fired him and got a huge upgrade in Lonergan.
Mike Waddell wasted little time hiring Pat Skerry to replace the trenchcoat-less Pat Kennedy. That one has worked out pretty well for Towson, I'd say.
Those are just 2 examples, obviously, but both are local teams and both benefited tremendously from having leaders take decisive action.
Instead of essentially throwing away what could be a valuable transition year with a fairly young team, why not bring in a new coaching staff now?
Those are just 2 examples, obviously, but both are local teams and both benefited tremendously from having leaders take decisive action.
Two reasons are timeframe and money. He cant fire anyone till july 1st. Unless he makes TOC do it now.
I believe that only President Cabrera has the authority to fire the men's basketball coach. And, I don't see this happening before the end of next season.
