I love the random deadlines some of you guys set on these things. What if they are going after Caputo for real, Miami is still playing in the NIT.
The rest of the crew as pretty much shredded your Caputo comment to my satisfaction, so I won't address that. (You expressed my concerns, too, GSII)
I will address the "deadline" comment, though. I wasn't setting a deadline, it was just when I would be concerned about getting a top level coach. And, I provided the reason for why I chose my time frame for when I would be concerned so it wasn't random either. Parker says they usually do it within 10-14 days, If we get to Tuesday, that is 15 days. Isn't Prohm the only one we would seriously be waiting for to finish their season at this point? If we can't get to yes or no with him by the end of Monday (that would be 4 days since he can talk openly), given all the back channel communications should have been done by now, don't you think that would be odd? I would think that by Monday, most of the Tier 1 candidates will be locked down, and maybe some in our lower Tiers as well. Obviously, if there are more firings at hire level programs, that changes things somewhat, but I only see that making things worse, not better.
And if you had fully digested my post, you would have seen that I said that I was not concerned about getting a good coach beyond Monday, just that I would be concerned that we won't land one that removes all doubt. Caputo falls in that category for me. Good coach, but unproven as a head coach, so there would be some doubt in my mind that we had gotten the best candidate.
