Take Bruce Pearl off the list - Auburn just hired him.

Wow, his show-cause doesn't expire until August. Guess Auburn was desperate.

Good for Pearl, though. Gets him back into the SEC without having to stop off at a "low major" program and rebuild his credibility. And I'm quite sure he'll win there eventually -- he's a P.O.S., but he can obviously coach.

I dont think its desperate, I think it just shows they wanted their guy and went and got him, even if they "have to wait" for him for a few months. His "plan" and his can assistants run around all summer laying out the red carpet for his return....

Christian would be a great choice. Young, energetic, terrific recruiter, plays up-tempo pressing style ... at least we'd hopefully have him for 3-4 years before he moved onward and upward.

I will say if the A-10 keeps putting 5+ teams into the NCAAs on average...the "allure" of jumping to the cellar/middling BCS rebuild job as an opportunity will be a bit less of a draw.

We made the right move to get to the A-10.....we just need to find a guy that can take advatnage of the opportunity it provides....

Sounds like a "homerun swing" hire - probably going to knock it out of the park or flame out.

For a safer pick - maybe someone like Cliff Ellis of Coastal Carolina.

Well, we know for sure that the current guy isn't what we need. That's a decent first step.

I'm glad High Point got upset in the first round of their conf tourney - that should leave Cherry there. He's returning about 90% of his scoring, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them dancing next year.

I'm not sold on Christian from Mt. St. Mary. Had they not had 6 guys on the court in semi's, they wouldn't be on the radar.

Use the eyeball test - watch the game tonight and see if MSM play with a system and spirit that you would like to have at Mason. Guy learned Xs & Os from Tony Shaver and leadership from Shaka.

Um. Safe pick for what? he's 68....

...and he has a LOSING conference record in both the SEC and ACC....

Um. Who said safe pick? "Safer" implies a degree of risk, as in swimming with sharks is safer then handling snakes - though neither would be considered a safe practice. I'm sorry/not sorry you missed that.

A guy I would like to see us go after is Zach Spiker up at West Point. Watched the guy coach and his system is enjoyable to watch and he is a young energetic guy. Now, it's not very hard to get the players at West Point to play hard but these guys play about as hard as any team I've ever seen. He has won 68 games in 5 seasons, joining only Coach K and Bobby Knight as the only Army coaches to do that. Led them to their most conference wins ever this year and also had back to back conference winning seasons for the first time is school history. There are a lot of good young coaches out there and this guy deserves a look and will get one from someone very soon.

Ken Bone has been let go as coach at Washington State, the school announced Tuesday.

Bone, 55, has spent the past five seasons with the Cougars and will leave with an 80-86 mark. He had the unenviable task of following Tony Bennett, who took WSU to two NCAA tournament appearances in his three years in Pullman -- including the Sweet 16 in 2008 -- before leaving for Virginia.

Christian is still very early in the rebuilding process at MSM. For him to take this team to the NCAA tournament with so few of "his guys" on the roster is a testament to his ability.

As DV noted, he learned to coach from Tony Shaver, who is a highly respected X's and O's guy, and he learned to lead from Shaka.

Shaka's guys are willing to run through a brick wall for him. I would love to have a team that played with the same passion and energy, and had ultimate belief in its coach. It's what we used to have with the Elderly Cuban.
