Since we are in the Silicon Valley of the East....and kind of a cutting edge university....the Hi-Tec brand seems to fit our profile:

Nike really does make the cleanest looking jerseys. Although adidas does do UCLA and Indiana which both look good.

Nike is the best - especially when they release the special designs toward the end of the year. Adidas and UA try too hard and often come up with terrible designs.

I know a lot of people don't like our logo, but I always thought that our star would look good on one of the logo only jerseys like Richmond wore last night.

How do you make those designs? Do you go to that niketeam.com?

Doc, do you know if Nike's uniforms are Dri-FIT? I've gotten to the point where I can't do cardio or lift without a Dri-FIT shirt, because they are more comfortable and absorb sweat well.

The Dri-FIT stuff is obviously more expensive, but the good news is they are now making stuff for Mason that can be found at the bookstore (online and in person).

Kind of - they aren't the dri-fit that you know like the t-shirts that you wear to work out, but it is a different, lighter fabric than what would be worn 10 years ago. Some of the newest materials are really kind of strange - almost have a plastic feel to them. A lot of teams are going to sublimated names/numbers which allows the uni to be lighter and more comfortable (no stiff letters/numbers on the jersey).

I just went through the process of ordering new uniforms for my high school football team that I coach, and uniform fabrics really have changed a ton in the last 10 years. We ended up going with an all custom UA uniform. The thing a lot of people don't realize is that these companies don't make their own uniform. I know for football UA uses Powers Athletic for their custom uniforms and Alleson for their stock. Nike also uses Powers Athletic - so all those uni's are made by Powers and they just sew on the logo of the shoe company. Adidas uses a company called Ripon - they were real big in the 70's and 80's.

I should probably put this in the Hate Thread, but I hate that I just spent $75 on the Dri-FIT Mason pullover that I just posted a picture of above. I hate that my wife is going to ask me why I need yet another Nike product in our house.

Not that wives need any more ammunition against husbands, but a better question for her to ask might be why you would want or need another Mason logo in the house...

I guess you could make the buy low/sell high argument back.

Oh for Chrissakes.

Now when the decision comes down on Hewitt, someone's going to say "hey, even though they're bad....we still sold 1 pull over this semester. We can't lose that kind of support!"

I look at it as an investment in the future just in case we become relevant again. I stopped wearing anything from our Final 4 run, which was almost half of my Mason apparel. I used to wear that stuff with pride, but now I'm embarrassed that our run has become a sad footnote rather than the accomplishment it once was.

I also have a shirt that says "Fear the Patriots" and another that says "It's Always Basketball Season," neither of which I can wear with a straight face anymore.

Agreed, that was where I was going with the buy low/sell high analogy. I think that is your best defense with your wife. Tell her she knows you are going to buy stuff, better to get it now rather than when Hewitt is fired and the prices skyrocket.
