BBB said it was the "EagleBank Arena at George Mason University." But on the proposed sign and the background to the speakers it just says "EagleBank Arena" and then under it it says "George Mason University". If it is at George Mason University then it should say that and somebody needs to fix it. It won't matter to 99.99999% of people, but inconsistencies like this drive me crazy!

It's actually in the written contract that the arena can be referred to as either "EagleBank Arena George Mason Universiy and/or EagleBank Arena at George Mason University".

So both are correct usage.

Ronald Paul, EagleBank chairman, introduced it at the press conference with Cabrera as EagleBank Arena at George Mason University. Brad Edwards did the same with in an interview with Bill Rohland afterwards. If it's going to be referred to that way it should reflect that on the sign. 99% of fans aren't going to read the contract that the arena signed. They are just going to know bottom line the sign on the arena is not what it is being called by GMU and EagleBank leadership.

It is "EagleBank Arena at George Mason University" and should not be called anything else because that is what all the fans and everyone else know it by. The sign is a pairing of a title and a subtitle. I doubt anyone is going to read the sign and think that the arena is called anything other than simply "EagleBank Arena." And that's all the name that's needed for someone who presumably already knows that they are at George Mason University, otherwise they would not be reading the sign. It's only when the arena is spoken off away from campus that some definition of where it's located will become relevant.

This is sad for me. I worked at the Patriot Center since the beginning and held summer jobs there my senior year and summer after while hunting for a real job. I used to program the old message center on top of the old scoreboard and remember creating the waving flag in the wonderful low-res system using a CP/M computer. I remember helkp painting the logo on various walls and having my Patriot Center operations shirt (I may still have that somewhere.)

It will always be the Patriot Center to me.
