Seems like to me those guys are in a fix.
They have told their current team and coaches they don't want to be there, and other schools have said "we don't want you here." Career ender?
Does Div II and III offer scholarships?
otherwise they pick a school where they can walk on
and hope they get a decent financial aid package

or they stay where they are now,
dont rejoin the team'
hope for a good financial aid package,
dominate intramurals,
and hopefully graduate

This free transfer year will not be good for everyone - but especially some of these players

Number of players in the transfer portal:

1,663

Number of players who entered the transfer portal and have not currently found a new school:

580

Percentage of players who entered the transfer portal and have not currently found a new school:

35.1%

Of the 1,083 student athletes that successfully transferred, I wonder what percentage of them are 5th year guys like Schwartz, AJ, and Javon that are using schollies that in a normal non-pandemic year would have otherwise been available to some of the 580 players still looking for a team. Just a tough year all around and a lot of players may have made ill advised decisions that jeopardies their academic and athletics careers.

i believe this is true but will work its way out of the system as those with the extra covid year use that yer then move out of the NCAA system.
Arguably this has hurt incoming freshmen both in terms of higher level opportunities, development time and playing time. This cohort will lso works its way thru the system with - hopefully - each year moving towards a new type of equilibrium with this new transfer portal.

i wonder if there will be a rush on 4/30 of players entering the portal?
It seems that there arent as many openings as there are portal entries meaning that some players who expect P5 opportunities wont get them and will end up at lesser schools - if at all.

Without a scholarship i wonder how many will leave college or end up in community colleges?

Half of D1 already entered the portal (barely an exaggeration -- 1,377 have entered the portal to-date)...can't imagine there'd be many more.

By the way, there are about 200-300 PG currently in the portal.
