A total dagger for me. Had the fightin Hoibergs in the title game.

He will always be one of the most heart- breaking recruits we lost to another school. Hugh loss for ISU.

Happy to see Dayton advance. I've said several times I thought they were the toughest A10 team we faced this year. Other teams might have had more talent, but Dayton can score in multiple ways -- which makes them very tough to defend -- and they play great team defense. I hope they can keep Miller, but part of advancing is the high possibility of having your coach poached.

True, but if their program brought in 7 million they can afford to pay him. That might not keep him
In Ohio, but it sure should make him think twice about taking just any job.

Whew, just dodged a bullet in the Wisconsin/Oregon game, because I have the Badgers going to the Elite 8 in all three of my pools.

The point remains that, for all of the hype vcu and Shaka have received since 2011, they really haven't done much of any consequence.

Shaka somehow still hasn't won a conference regular-season title. He's won one conference tournament (2012 CAA) and is 2-3 in the NCAAs since the Final Four.

Between Shaka's $1.5 million salary, annual bumps for his assistants and $25 million for the practice facility he demanded, it's hard not to think vcu has underachieved at least a little the last couple seasons.

I'd love for Mason to be 2-3 over the last 3 NCAAs with a pair of 5 seeds, of course.

But based on all of the national commentators tripping over each other to fellate him, you'd think his record would be much more impressive than it is.

Key pt. is he/they make the tournament every year now. They are a legit program.

Lots of teams make the tournament every year without having national commentators slobbering all over their coaches' nutsacks.

At some point he's gonna have to get beyond the first weekend again or people are going to start calling him a one-hit wonder.

Agreed. New Mexico, San Diego State, Davidson, BYU, and UNLV are a few teams who make the tournament most years and aren't in major conferences and none of them get the slobber job vcu gets.

I won't begrudge vcu the marketing machine they've built with "Havoc Lives Here." But it's pretty ridiculous that supposed journalists are buying it so completely.

Well, Paul "Program Killer" Hewitt gets a good slobbering by commentators too and he is a one hit wonder from like 15 years ago.

Watching Dayton push our shit in at home was one of the worst experiences I've had as a Mason fan. Certainly there have been more heartbreaking, "bigger" losses, but I've never felt more hopelessly overmatched by a team in conference.

I feel better watching them go through the tournament, and I'm pulling for them. I love that smooth inside-out style they play.

Some basketball mad Florida alums today at work were talking about how terrified they were of Dayton. I think Florida will handle them, but one never knows. It certainly puts our loss to them in perspective.

Agree, that getting mopped by Dayton at home was demoralizing because they were mid table in the conference. But, they were damn good as we now know.

I knew I was in trouble when Niang went down, because I had Iowa State going to the Final 4 in all three of my pools. I also had three different teams coming out of the Midwest, none of which was Kentucky. Oops!

My final four is still intact (for now) -- I had Louisville losing to Michigan and Iowa State losing to Michigan State, with Florida and Arizona as the other two. Looks like I picked the right two number 1 seeds to advance. Arizona gave me a big scare, though, against SD St.
