And people think we are discontent....heck vcu win games and still gets this on their boards today:

I'm rooting for whoever will hire Smart and soon since he hasn't won a single big game since he took us to the final four with Grants players.......

But then again we can say Hewitt has gotten worse too without the OCM players....

How many post Final Four tournament wins does vcu have? 1

How many do we have? 1

That is just not true. vcu beat Wichita State in the Round of 64 back in 2012 by the score of 62-59 and destroyed Akron 88-42 in the Round of 64 in 2013. Also, G Mas went to the Final Four 8 years ago, while it's been just 3 years since vcu did it.

G Mas has played in 3 NCAA tournament games since 2006. In 2008, they got manhandled by Notre Dame in the Round of 64. Then, in 2011, after dispatching Villanova in the Round of 64, were destroyed by Ohio State in the Round of 32.

I know this makes me a hateful, spiteful a-hole, but whatever, I'm drunk. Nothing makes me happier than the though of Pav's fat a** waddling home, knowing that A) he has NO shot of ever sleeping with a good looking girl, and B) vcu's basketball team crapped the bed.

Here's hoping he cries at least one tear.

For me it's Louisville v St Louis. I'm curious if Dayton can hang with Syracuse. Also think we will find out if Florida is a legit contender today.

Yea both A10 games should be decent. Looking forward to Memphis UVA tomorrow.

My bracket is so so shape. No real important pieces are out. I worry Iowa State now might be done since they lost their guy.

The point remains that, for all of the hype vcu and Shaka have received since 2011, they really haven't done much of any consequence.

Shaka somehow still hasn't won a conference regular-season title. He's won one conference tournament (2012 CAA) and is 2-3 in the NCAAs since the Final Four.

Between Shaka's $1.5 million salary, annual bumps for his assistants and $25 million for the practice facility he demanded, it's hard not to think vcu has underachieved at least a little the last couple seasons.

I'd love for Mason to be 2-3 over the last 3 NCAAs with a pair of 5 seeds, of course.

But based on all of the national commentators tripping over each other to fellate him, you'd think his record would be much more impressive than it is.

Yeah, I loved the "reputation ranking" vcu was getting at the beginning of the season. Before a single game was played, commentators had them as a final four sleeper.

Shaka's a good coach-- but a better marketer. He's young, has a memorable name, and has a "branded" system in havoc. Add in the fact that he has yet to be lured to a bigger school, and it's almost impossible to find someone who doesn't like him. Heck, even many of the vcu haters on this board admit they like Shaka.

Of course, there's good and bad that comes of this. The good is that your profile is raised. Recruits want to play for you, etc. On the other hand, they have suffered from inflated expectations for the past couple of years.

So... what's worse? Having a team that flames out and has no chance at a postseason? Or going into the tourney with high hopes and losing in spectacular fashion to a much lower seed?

I'd still take the latter.
