Official Game Thread - Stony Brook at Mason

What I really liked was it looked like everyone on the floor had an idea for what they should be doing both on offense and defense. Did they execute everytime? Of course not...but what I didn't see was much hesitation in doing things. Looked like a team with its sh*t together.

You are correct - but that was expected given new program and new parts. But you could see there is a plan and we looked more physical than in recent years.

For the first showing of a new coach and a team with a lot of new parts - not too bad. Still some work on passing and defense here and there.

But strong start to the season,

Book the win.

And you didn’t jinx it by starting this thread against tradition. All the extra rum for Jobu helped.

That was the most fun I’ve had at a Mason game in a long time. Ticket is an X factor type guy. I want to see Schwartz be more assertive, but great game. Oduro is all he was billed as, great game. I’m still not sold on our PG situation but they both played good tonight against a bad opposing PG. Student section was as packed as I’ve seen it in a long time.

If you can win by 22 while ironing out kinks and working in rotation players while have two supposed to be key contributors out with injury? I say that’s a good job.

Coach said Polite Frazier and Gray are day to day at this point. I have to think Polite is still battling from his off-season surgery.

That should put to rest any doubts. Coach English can coach. Team was prepared.

I was very pleased with the energy. A few instances of first game jitters but overall this team looks much improved

Loved that under...got it at 142.

I figured the defense would be better, wasnt prepared for THIS much better.

Coach said Polite Frazier and Gray are day to day at this point. I have to think Polite is still battling from his off-season surgery.

I just cant imagine Polite will get a chance for consistent minutes until January barring injury to X or Hartwell. Just hasnt gotten enough practice time umder the new regime (due to injury).

Need to get Frazier going soonest, though.

Good first win for KE. I was surprised at the margin of victory to be honest. Solid defensive effort with the exception of still switching out front which left Hartwell guarding a post player far too much. Haunting nightmares of DP when that occurred. I hope it is not part of KE's plan. We would have cut their offensive output by 6 - 8 points if we just played solid and not switched. Very happy with the game 1 result!

Agreed, I think they only switched part of half 2 but they also were doing it so fast I am not sure it mattered much. Hopefully you gave Brillo head a headache tonight

I am happy to report that Brillo and her whole family were not in attendance tonight!!!!!!! Delighted with the student turnout tonight but the alums still SUCK. TOO many prime open seats!
