GIVING DAY 2023
What do you guys think about the email that just went out to Patriot Club members about making a donation to Men's and Women's basketball?
Personally, I feel better about that than NIL, but from I have read here today, does it really make a difference. I'm looking for some clarity.
I also received another email from Mason today asking for money for some other drive. It was Mason Vision Day, whatever the heck that is.
Any help!?
The email that just went out was advertising the kickoff event with Lamar Butler tomorrow in DC. Thats for the A10 - then it just mentions how to donate. We need any and all money. I don't donate tons, but I do what I can, if everyone donated 10 or 20 bucks you easily could generate some easy amounts. Typically on the giving day / vision day a few hundred k is fund raised for basketball.

Mason Vision Day is more of the bigger drive to donate. The basketball greatness fund will be part of Vision Day. You could always do a small amount now and later if you really wanted.

Thanks. Yeah, even though NIL bugs me, I'm figuring if even a small amount would show up as "numbers of alumni" have donated. And of course that is a selling point to big boy donors.
So, just personally, would you recommend Patriot Club or NIL?

I defer back to @Patriot8 post about the slush fund of basketball greatness that essentially can be used across the board. Any fund helps but if you want the "please use where it fits best", that sounds like a good fund.

Nah, don't want to do the "anywhere" thing. But I WILL donate to the basketball program.
Thanks!

Let me clarify - Its an "anywhere" specific for basketball, not just "anywhere". Coach retention, enhancements etc. But specific for men's and women's basketball.

I agree with everything @Patriot8 has said above. To add to that, I will point out that the Patriot Nation Collective is still in full operation. We are currently in an odd period. The House settlement/revenue share has not been approved yet, but people think collectives are done.

We still need the collective in it's current form to retain the key players from this year and to assemble the roster for the coming year. If you are so inclined to give to the collective, I wholeheartedly encourage it. If not, give to the new Basketball Greatness Fund.

If you are wondering/concerned that the collective site has not been updated, it is a combination of using our resources where we can use them best, combined with focusing on more corporate level deals for the collective. When the House settlement goes into effect, it is the corporate agreements that will make the most sense with the new restrictions on NIL payments. Given where we are with that, time was not invested in updating the collective site to try to encourage individual donors.
