GIVING DAY 2023
I have to think this is coming but it might take years to get to this point. I do wish b would happen because I can't see how the Big 10 can sustain going across the country.

At the end of the day, Mason and basketball only schools are in the best position to be all in on their main sport, instead of having to have costs across football and basketball.
Assuming Mason doesn't do something Masonish.

GIVING DAY 2023
Summary:
...
If you use the 70% football, 15 MBBall, 10 WBBall, 5% others formula, you can see how it might compare to other schools. Since we don't have football, this puts us in great footing against everyone else except the Big East (who I think will come out on top) and the SEC (which has nearly infinite pockets).
now i am wondering what the split will be???
60% MBB, 30% WBB, 10% everyone else???
i can imagine the other athletes being PO'ed when the ratio goes public
Unless there is some sort of mixed allocation including the collective money

I can certainly see that, but it should be remembered if a school's flagship sport is successful, in our case men's bball, it "should" encourage potential large donors to get on board. And, as we saw with the FF, it will raise the overall profile of the school. In that case, everyone benefits.

So...
IF Mason signs on to the settlement,
IF Mason the amount gets is somewhere close to 3M as mentioned earlier,
IF we don't Mason things up ....

When do we get the money? As in, when can we start making new deals with this influx of cash?

Mason will sign on to the settlement.

They will need to develop new revenue streams. I’m sure there will be an increased effort to drive new corporate partnerships/sponsorships, increase donations, ticket sales, reallocate from other areas, etc.

It’s my understanding that fans will have the option of contributing to the overall effort in a roundabout way.

I watched Marvin's presentation to the board and came away very impressed and confident that we have the right leadership in place to navigate this new era of basketball. Sounds like Marvin has assembled a team to go after corporate dollars here in the DMV. New basketball building sounds like a giant step in the right direction.
Didn’t watch the presentation but did they give a shovels in ground date? New building does indeed sound like a step in the right direction, but it has sounded that way for a decade.

I was also happy to see engagement from several members of the board on the athletics topic, it wasn’t like Marvin was talking to a wall.

There is buy in across the AD, Admin, and BOV like I haven’t seen since I’ve been a fan. If not anything else, it’s encouraging.

I guess this goes here?

So AAC is requiring $10 million minimum over 3 years. Sounds close to the annual $3 million that was mentioned during the BOV. If their football programs take 70% of money they're left with less than a mill for everything else. Sounds like a good position for us and the rest of the A10.

Not blowing you up as you are just providing the info.

But we have heard this same song and dance for 15+ years.... "we have people and teams in place to go after big donors." Really then... what's your plan?

Seen this movie before..... until they can actually bring in someone other than Eagle Bank, Interstate Van Lines and Jim McKay then it's just blowing sunshine up our asses with same ol shit different day.

Its definitely a lot of the same talk. It was interesting in Marvin's newsletter yesterday that he announced the basketball fund and wants to fund-raise 500k specifically for it by 6/30.

At tonight's pre game reception both Katie (?) and Marvin mentioned it. As now was the time to grow the program
