Oh I know. They were the example because they made the 4-5 million dollar figure public. I’ve heard that another local rival of ours is expecting to be in the 3mil range.

It’s also hard to know what’s going on at most of the A10 schools since they are private and don’t have to disclose their finances.

I would assume Dayton will have the biggest pie to slice up given their arena size and fanbase.

URI and Mason are about equivalent to revenue generation, but they also have an FCS football team so I don’t know how that’s going to work.

Three things separate vcu revenue from Mason’s:

Ticket sales: Mason is -2.1 million
Rights and Licensing: Mason is -1.7 million
NCAA Revenue: although vcu hasn’t been as successful the last 6 years as the previous 6 (I’m not sure if 2021 counts or not since they had to forfeit that game). Still, they are getting a fairly significant higher share of A10 NCAA winnings than we do right now.

First two things are semi in control of the fans. Get to EBA, and buy merch, particularly Adidas licensed products.
I posted something similar a couple weeks ago, but, I'll take this opportunity to highlight @GMUgemini's point above. Now is very possibly the most important time in the history of the program to show your support. Decisions are being considered/made that will determine the fate of our program for the foreseeable future. Those decisions depend, in part, on how much support the program receives from fans.

I won't try to convince you that supporting Mason is more important than donating to your chosen charities. What I will say, though, is that we all have some sort of budget for our entertainment and that is usually one of things that makes working the long and/or hard hours worth it. NIL and/or revenue share are the name of game going forward. If you value a quality Mason program I urge you to consider making it as large a part of your entertainment budget as you can.

Now is the time to support our program in the most visible way you can!

As a fan, I'm confused where to best spend my donation dollars going forward. Over the last few years I think NIL was the route, but now with revenue sharing and the increase in spending we need from the department for staff retention, maybe that's the direction to go. Would love to get some clarification.

I got $20 burning a hole in my pocket.

What happened to the other $4980 you said you had?

Revenue share isn't here yet as the House settlement isn't finalized yet. The NIL collective is still operating normally and still has needs as we look forward to the upcoming season to retain talent for next year.

Oh, and I believe you should have at least $40 burning a hole in your pocket thanks to Darrius.

Mason fans need to donate NIL money if you want to see this program and Tony Skinn keep on winning!

Donate here: https://t.co/ddzeLrlL9T
Quick Econ Lesson
1) donating to the GMU Program via NIL or via the University does not guarantee a winning program nor wins;
2) but if all other A-10 programs are able to generate more money via NIL and other donations GMU will lose
as they will lose the competition for talent - arguably the most important piece of winning
3) Those NIL funds are now simply added to the cost of doing business
4) relatively equal amounts of NIL funds cancel each other out and the battle for talent is not financial based but driven by other soft factors

university location - city, suburban, rural
university reputation
coaching staff
historical basketball reputation
ETC, ETC

5) The only sure winners are the players, who may be able to force teams to bid the price for their services up - and above their value of marginal revenue; but potentially damage the NIL base

For instance - 3 seasons ago Georgetown supposedly paid a transfer $200k. He then averaged under 4 points/game. So, it is likely that whoever was in charge of talent evaluation screwed up. What is unknown is the response of the donor pool that suppiosedly donated the $3M in NIL funds. Did they reup for another year and at what financial level?

Look no further than Arkansas. Walmart and Tysons Foods pouring Godly amounts of money in their NIL. Where are they in the standings? Currently, at # suck. I thought they would dominate this year. When players get their money, but don't produce success at the p5 Level, they will get "fired". And that's what is great about the A10 sitting right in that sweet spot with several schools in major markets ie dmv that can accomadte those players that did not have success at the higher level, and at the same time get players on the up and up from lower conferences.

I am at the Howard - UM-ES game. Blake Harper is a freshman from Sidwell Friends averaging 20 points per game for Howard. It is Sidwell Friends Day at Howard as all of his friends are here. Harper has decided to show out with 23 points in the first half.

His aunt and uncle are sitting in front of me and said he is getting at least a quarter million $ to play elsewhere next season. With Georgetown as the leading candidate.

The bad part is that Howard has no NIL and has lost most of their leading scorers over the last 3 seasons to other schools

Today is senior day and 9 of the current scholarship players are seniors or grad students so next seasons roster will have a lot of new faces.

I think the key for Mason will be paying Tony. Leadership matters, you can have all the talent and no coach and it doesn't matter. Coaches win not schools. Schools pay said coaches and when someone offers money they leave. It's not really the school that wins. Can a school develop a reputation sure but that only goes as far as there next bad hire. Does said coach need a budget 100% but priority #1 is keeping Tony.

100% ......Since they didn't wanna pay Coach L for coaching the team to a Final 4, we became cursed. The curse can be lifted completely and for good if they take care of the guys who actually fought to get us to the FF.

I also wouldn't mind keeping Lamar around!

To me, the key to Tony's success in terms of talent evaluation has been Steve Curran, the associate Head.. He was the architect of Mark Schidmt's system as well as the identification/Development of most of Bonnie's under the radar talent which led them to so much success in recent years..keep him and Tony....Mason Continues to win..

I told someone the other day if Tony does bolt I wouldn't mind Schidmt taking over and we are in a much better place than at any other point in last 10-12 years. So no disagreement there.
