Not to say that we haven't struggled with zones in the past, but Oduro making those jumpers just beyond the foul-line got UMass out of their zone last game. Maybe more of that against Davidson?
Spot on. That was one thing Kier did last year to help against zones. Hopefully, Oduro will keep it going.

Davidson is an 8 pt favorite (Kenpom). On Defensive Efficiency, the 2 teams are pretty much dead even. But Davidson's offensive efficiency is much better than ours (#51 vs #173)--higher shooting % across the board.

"• Forward AJ Wilson is third in the nation in blocks/game (3.4). He is fourth on Mason's all-time blocks list (137) and his 65 blocks in 2019-20 are second-most in single-season school history. He needs just 13 more blocks to overtake George Evans (1998-99) for the top spot.

• Wilson leads Mason with 15.0 points/game in road games this season He also averages 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in games away from EagleBank Arena.

• The Patriots rank third in the A-10 in league games with 8.3 steals per contest. In addition, after being out-rebounded in the first three A-10 games (-13.6 average margin), the Patriots have held the rebounding edge in each of the past three (+6.7 average margin).

• Greene leads the A-10 in scoring in league play (20.0 ppg). He is shooting 41 percent (16-39) from 3-point range in six A-10 games and averaging a team-high 3.3 assists/contest (10th in A-10). In league games, he is third in the conference in steals/game (2.5).

"HISTORY vs. DAVIDSON
Saturday's matchup marks the eighth all-time meeting between Mason and Davidson. The Wildcats hold a 5-2 advantage in the series. The teams have split the past four matchups. The Wildcats have won the past two meetings (both in Fairfax), including a tight 61-56 contest last season. Justin Kier led Mason with 26 points and 12 rebounds in that game, while Javon Greene added seven points and eight rebounds.

A LOOK AT THE WILDCATS (9-9, 3-3 A-10; NET No. 99, KenPom No. 93)

They do call our frontcourt soft. However, they should consider what we did to French and the fact that we out-rebounded the Billikens.
they also qualm at the fact that people said they should play zone to win.. Have they seen us try and break a zone?!?! Was more an observation on how we can't break a decent zone and less about them not being good. lol

GIVING DAY 2023
Warning: I am feeling very happy today as I have a temporary reprieve for the weekend from the proposal hell I have been in since Thanksgiving, so I may be feeling unusually optimistic. That being said...

Regardless of our history with Davidson, what Kenpom says, and our struggles in conference so far, I think we win this one and things start to look up for us in conference for the following reasons:
We pulled together at the end of the UMass game.
I think we are over the Kier injury depression.
Greene has become "the Man".
Odurro is showing some signs good signs.
I have always loved Jordan Miller's game.
AJ has been playing pretty damn well so far this season.
And to top it off, I just found out we have a 7 foot tall guy on our roster. I firmly believe he must be our secret weapon and is going to be brought out at strategic points to give us a little boost.
I am sure there are other positives I am forgetting, as well.

Mason by 1 in a nail biter where we come back from 5 down late to take the win.

By George.

GIVING DAY 2023
Annoyed this is on CBS Sports. I don't have this channel. I rather have no games on TV and just rely on ESPN +

Yeah didn’t even know I didn’t have CBS Sports. Would have had to pay 40 a month to get a new plan. Ended up going to Glory Days instead so I guess the good food they had in the gold room last week worked on me.

I am so ready to not have live TV anymore (right now I'm using YouTube for live TV for $50-a-month's-worth of programming I don't watch). I understand the value of getting games on "real" TV but, selfishly, I wholeheartedly agree that I wish all of our games were on ESPN+

Well, AJ got the memo about being more efficient. Too bad no one else on the team feels like scoring today. Feels a lot like last year when we could have blown open the game if we actually made our shots.

I have so many screen shots of the anti AJ guys. Crazy how many said he sucked last three years
I mean he has improved. I don't remember people saying that he sucked, just mostly that he needed to play with a little more calmness. It was infuriating to watch him, with his potential, miss out on so many rebounds because he was going for blocks.

Difference this year, he's actually getting the blocks.
