MIAMI UPDATE

How Miami got to OT is a mystery. Stanford was better all game long.
That's really not true. They were way better in the first half and smarter in overtime, but I thought Miami played way better than Stanford in the second half. They were in control the entire 20 minutes

Point given. I should have said when I was interested enough to intermittently keep my eyes on the game it seemed as though Stanford was the better team.

My thought was that Coach L coached em up pretty good and they will be decent next year.

I didn't pay much attention to them until the post season, but they showed a lot of heart in the NIT. The young guys are good. Exactly the kind of team L thrives with.

Next year in my opinion is the make-or-break year for Larranaga. As I said, one NCAA appearance at an ACC school in four years (with mostly the previous coaches' guys) does nothing to inspire any particular confidence.

That being said, Miami should return to being a fringe top 20 team, which would be great for L.

Unless of course he gets Shaka envy again and asked for an undeserved raise.

It is an ACC school, but it's also a football school. As long as he runs a clean program and has a respectable record they're likely to let him stick around. Too early for a make-or-break year. It's not like they have a proud history of NCAA tournament play.

Well, if he doesn't make the NCAAs next year, he'll be one for five, worse ratio than the last three coaches. Some of which were fired.

I see two guys from there announced they are transferring. Could be a sinking ship.

Miami's Manu Lecomte will transfer, sources told @CBSSports. Two years of eligibility remaining.

Deandre Burnett is also transferring, which is pretty surprising because I figured his emergence/return (was out last year with an injury) was a major reason for Lacomte leaving. Both of these guys are ACC level players and would be excellent targets/instant starters for us in my opinion.

Would be nice if Larranaga gave us a little something back.

Is it safe to say taking your entire staff to a new job in a tougher league doesnt translate into grand results. As much fluff that ive read about Caputo, Konk, Luger etc, being great at Mason, what have they done at the U? As Jollay said 1 in 5 on ncaa appearances, players leaving, no marquee recruits out of prep school or even transfers. The old cuban can coach em up, but his crew is coming up short on the talent front.

Having said that, Paulsen should be careful.

There are rumors on the Miami board about a 3rd potential transfer -- fr Omar Sherman. That would be 3 players that got decent PT.

Next year is a big year for them. If those 3 leave, there will only be 3 players from their current roster who will be there after next year (Reed, Newton and Palmer).

I'm looking at Miami's signed recruits for the past few years, and if they missed on the guys they brought in, then they weren't the only ones who were wrong about those guys' talent. They had two 4-stars in their 2013 class, and two more in 2014.

And Angel Rodriguez was a big incoming transfer this past season. I'm sure the way they faded down the stretch had a lot to do with his wrist injury.

A lot of talent sure did leave the ACC early this year.

Really does give L little reason to complain about his transfers and injuries and what have you. It's right there for him next year--if he can't get next year's team in the NCAA he has to be considered an utter failure at Miami.

And now that Michael Luger is gone, will the rest of L's flock fly? Is the Bowling Green job actually a better one than Miami with L's advancing age?

I talk to the Miami guys every day, they say it's getting harder and harder to keep Larranaga's head on straight. They say he is prone to irrational fits of violence now (mainly directed to Konkol for some reason) and he cannot wear nice suits anymore because of his irritable bowel syndrome.

All this adds up to is OCM getting let go at Miami, and then being on his son Jays staff when he finally gets his gig in the NBA.

Who Focking Cares????
I'm a Dave Paulsen/George Mason fan. That other Florida school can drop dead or win the ACC and I don't give two shites which one.
