Exactly. That may have been the biggest, yet most important aspect of the previous regime. We had reached a point where we didnt care who we stepped on the court against....you knew you had a shot.

And now, I just assume we will lose every time we play regardless who the opponent is. I know I am not the only one who thought it was possible that we would lose to Catawba.

Not worth its own thread, but I know it'll irk Jollay so Arledge w/15 points and 11 rebounds last night.
Good move by Arledge. It is going to work out for us too. We get some game experience on the younger guys and our new coach, hopefully, will be able to shape them into winners.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Desperate for a win after a succession of narrow losses, Georgia Tech broke out with a blowout.

Marcus Georges-Hunt scored 24 points, and the Yellow Jackets earned their first Atlantic Coast Conference victory of the season by upsetting No. 23 Miami 70-50 on Wednesday night.

Six of the Yellow Jackets' losses in the league have been by fewer than eight points, but this time they were in control from the start. Tech made seven consecutive shots to lead 15-4, and Miami was never closer than six points after that.

"It was all smiles," Georges-Hunt said. "Every time we huddled up, it was something positive. It just felt like we were having a lot of fun out there."

Georgia Tech (10-10, 1-7 ACC) was off to its worst start in the league since 2002 and won for the first time since Dec. 30.

"We can compete with anybody in the country, in our opinion," Georges-Hunt said. "We stayed positive. You stick together as a family. You keep your head up and keep fighting."

The Yellow Jackets shot a season-high 57 percent, well above their season average of 41 percent, in part because they repeatedly drove inside for easy baskets. They scored 34 points in the paint.

Miami (14-6, 4-3) lost at home while ranked for the third time this season, with each defeat coming against an unranked team.

"This team probably has the widest range of performance I've ever seen," said Jim Larranaga, who is in his 31st season as a head coach. "They can be absolutely great one night, and you just don't recognize them the next day."

Last night I tuned in for about 2 minutes of the GA Tech @ Miami game. I noticed that the Miami student section was sitting behind the basket that the Canes were shooting at in the 2nd half- the same set up we have. I know that Coach L wanted it that way at Mason because he liked having the student section near the team as they ran out onto the court. Obviously, he got his way in Miami too. Since Coach L insisted on it at Mason, all the more reason I am shocked we still haven't moved the student section next to the band......where I believe they belong.
Anyway, there are 18 pages in this thread and this is my first and last post in it.

vcu, Duke, and North Carolina is set up the same way, with the student section closest to the team bench. Only difference is they fill both ends so it doesn't matter. But I know what you're saying.

How about moving the student section and switching the benches (and continue to have the opponent shooting at the basket on the west end in the second half)? You would have the students behind the opponent's basket and Mason's bench on the defensive end of the court in the second half. If so, this would facilitate communication between Mason's coach and the players on the defensive end down the stretch. And, perhaps the players could actually hear the coach yelling to foul with the Patriots leading by 3 points with just seconds remaining in regulation.

What if we left everything else the way it is, but switched the direction of play on the court? Could we do that, or is there a rule requiring the bench to be on a certain side? This would also move our head coach closer to his defense at the end of games, and maybe they'd hear him yelling to foul.

I believe the NCAA (but I have no idea) has teams shooting at the same end as their bench in the 2nd half. Not sure if it is a RULE (or game management function whatever) but I can't think of any place that does it differently. Always that way when I watch on TV.

I think I heard of a high school rule a looong time ago where it said the visiting team could choose. But peach baskets were still used when I heard that.

If I'm not mistaken, Bobby Knight had his home team bench on the defensive end in the second half. But, he was the exception as other coaches preferred the home team bench on the offensive end in the second half.

I mean, it's totally like some times they are really good, and other times they are terrible at home!

Can anyone who has sucked a big fat cock in Miami in the last year provide some edification?
