Amazing what good coaching will do for a program.

Greg has been there awhile. And I think last year he was on hot seat. I may be wrong. But I think the competition level from mens soccer was barely lateral or maybe a little below what it was in the CAA. So the conf move worked out for all sport except men bball where we have an alien at the helm.

Probably a step down, but they gave UMBC a run for their money, beat top 25 W&M in Williamsburg and almost pulled out an upset at national semifinalist UNM. It was a pretty damn good season regardless of conference.

I'm not sure how hot Andrulis's seat was, but I felt he had been underachieving for a while based on the talent he had coming in every year. Andrulis's himself is a failed MLS coach who came to Mason after being fired. But he seems to be a good recruiter (especially at GK) and his defenses seem to always be stout (just thinking of their 1-0 win over UMD a few years ago in College Park).

Final score: #22 Mason 2 - Wisconsin-Milwaukee 0.
Unfortunately, I didn't get there until the second half after Mason had already scored its 2 goals, but was impressed with their overall speed and ability to maneuver in tight quarters.

Nice turnout although the students seemed more interested in socializing than getting into the game. The scarf giveaway seemed to be a big success given the number of people wearing them--good looking green and gold scarves had me more than a little jealous of the students!

Very nice start to the season, but the schedule is about to get a lot harder with #14 UMBC, #15 UVA, vcu, Navy, and St. Louis (all receiving votes).

Hartwick competes in division one only for men's soccer and women's water polo. Odd.

GS can't even post in a soccer thread without referring to Hewitt? Jesus Christ.

This team is really exciting to follow this year, one of only two remaining undefeated (no ties) teams in the nation, with a lot of tough matchups left this year. I'm going to have to make it to the UVA game - would that be the biggest win in school history?
