I don't think we should ever completely move on from Living on a prayer as I think 99's point is spot on about it being one of the few traditions we have, but I've thought for years we should start playing it much more selectively - like during a key moment in the game when we force the other team to take a time out or something like that, and only during those kinds of moments at most once per game. Maybe one more time after a big or exciting win.

Can be used as a rallying cry to energize the crowd.

I could be wrong about this, but I think someone in the band makes a decision of the next song to be played at the next full/media timeout after the last timeout is completed. A number is written on a whiteboard, shown to everyone in the band, and the music is played accordingly.

I do think Joe is right though.

I certainly would prefer hearing anything than Zombie Nation after seeing a cheerleader use a wind up machine. That has been going on since I was a freshman..I was a freshman in 2003.

Balor's music would be cool, of course there would only be 10 people probably throwing their hands up at the proper points lol

pretty sure my wife and i were the only ones throwing up our hands on friday night. At least that i could see. All it would take is alittle coaxing from the Green Machine & cheer squad to get everyone on board. Zombie Nation is very played out and the wind up machine still looks very low budget. I think we need another "survey" so we can include these ideas.

If our best tradition is this song, it is about time we get some new ones!

Is the gentleman who sings/raps back for another year? I thought he was absolutely awesome last year and was the highlight of the green machine

The main focus should be changing the intro. It's terrible.

Turn the lights off and get rid of the stupid siren machine.

I think ideally, everyone on here would prefer a dark intro with some sort of strobe lights, lasers and spot lights. Unless we've upgraded lights recently, our current system isn't capable of it. I believe someone has mentioned that our lights take a long time to start up. I'm not sure they would upgrade the lights until a new roof is put in.

I saw some photos of glowsticks for the Kryptonite theme. Weren't the best of pics but it looked really cool, especially considering the place wasn't full. Could be a cool tradition moving forward.
Finally!

More Neil Diamond!

This is about the only post making a goddamned bit of sense in this thread.

How about dimming the lights and playing some classic tunes like this for once? Maybe it gets me some action for wifey...for once.

Still haven't seen many chimps since '06. What a goddamned joke that anything with "madness" in it doesn't have monkeys.

I can't remember the last time it was played more than once per game, and some games the last two seasons it has not been played at all. I think the current usage is just right.

This was hands-down the best new thing I saw at Mason Madness. The glowsticks were actually inside Virginia Lottery-sponsored inflatable Thunderstix.

Well that's pretty cool. I mean, thunder sticks suck a** but the glowing green thing with the lights off is cool. If I'm gonna have to listen to something annoying me all game I'd prefer a drunk undergrad yelling obscenities at opposing players, not 6 year olds with thunder sticks and parents with a disturbing lack of control.

no need to "move on" from Livin' on a Prayer. its nostalgic and maybe one day our prayers will be answered again and we will make it back there, so i say keep playing it. Yes the Green Machine needs to wear green, ive been saying this for years. it makes no sense to have them in gold. BTW, if anyone doesnt know the song played during the promo video on Friday night was that of WWE star Finn Balor. its a great theme and Mason should use it prior to the team taking the floor instead of what they've been using for the last, i lost count of how many years.

Yea this needs to happen as an intro song for the team. Even with a couple spotlights and green lights shinning on the "mason head". With the current lighting situation at EBA this very well might not be possible but they could play the song while the video plays then bring the lights up as the team comes out on the floor. Thats 5 solid minutes before tip time. ive been to enough concerts at EBA to know the lights dont take more than a few min to power up completely. Not that this will happen but would be awesome if it did. I guess im just "livin' on a prayer" haha

Coming out to the George Mason fight song is great and all...Who am I kidding? It gets you about as pumped up as the B-Side from a Wham record.

im all about the fight song, its cool, its historic, and it shows school pride. that can still be played after the intro song. I have no problem with that. it can actually flow seamlessly. All of this can be and should be done. Who do i talk to about heading this project? haha

Maybe we could play it while the team goes in for halftime. And play it after games as the team waves from halfcourt? That'd be a way of doing both things. It's just before a game you want to get pumped up.
