Jackson leaving makes a little bit of a sense, what with the injury and all...assuming of course that it's a seller's market for wings who shot 34% from the field.

For all the positive talk on here about DP, it has to be at least somewhat concerning that he'll likely lose the entire Fr class.

Jackson and Lockett? Don't see it - I can think of two games off the bat we lose last year w/o Jackson - Wright State & Iona. Who is going to score from the guard position next year?

Or ... We could be better faster because DP will get 'his guys' in sooner. In any case, we'll know more quickly whether DP can recruit and coach because the timeline has just been shortened.

Lets face it, Hewitt's players are not a good fit for DP's style. Not a knock on any of the guys who have decided to leave, but the culture change will happen that much more quickly with new players on the roster.

Less surprised about Jackson. Will Lockett have to apply for a waiver or sit out a second year in a row?

We are going to need some reinforcements via JUCO/5th year seniors next year, that's for sure. And we have to hope that the NCAA grants Mayimba eligibility (good luck with that one, he might as well just go play pro ball in Europe at this point).

I'm traveling this week, but I can't wait to hear reports on the "Meet the Coach" event this week. I'm sure Paulsen has a long-term plan, but it should be an interesting night to hear what he has to say about all of the defections.

No sense pussy-footing around while we wait for Hewitt's guys to cycle out of the program -- especially since so few of them have the type of skill that DP and staff are targeting. They're just not a good fit for what we'll need them to do going forward.

We all knew this was going to be a difficult transition season anyhow. Clear the decks and let the staff target players they want to build with.

Believe me, I get the sentiment, but it still sucks. I really liked Jackson. I thought he was going to be a star at Mason before it was all said and done.
