It was really great to see the lacrosse and baseball teams out to support basketball last night. I know some of the other teams have been out as well.
My question - where are the fraternities and sororities? I don’t see anyone wearing letters during the student section crowd shots. Do students even wear letters anymore? Maybe I’m just totally old and out of touch, but it would be nice to have more large groups attending.
I did not. That’s absurd and someone should flag it to the AD. The coach can easily be given a chair to sit off to the side or below the student section. It’s only one person/chair but those are student seats and if one person is sitting, then the person behind them will probably sit, and so on.Did you also see the cheerleading coach sitting down playing on his laptop in the front row of the student section all game? Because I did!
We were drinking beer in the student gov't offices overlooking the quad for Mason day back in the day.Snuck a keg up the stairwell of Commonwealth for Mason day back in the day.
The process sucked but the end result was worth it.
A few years back they made cheerleaders "club cheerleaders" whereas before they were on some type of scholarship. This year I have noticed a huge drop off with the Masonetts. I am not sure why. Also no one has really mentioned the Masonettes or Cheerleaders. That's because they might as well not be there this year. I don't have any insight to what has happened there, but we went from a dance team, co-ed cheer, and all-girls cheer that would go to competitions each year to a couple of depleted organizations who look like they have zero direction. I don't even think there is a co-ed cheer team any more. So, and not that they were ever all that helpful in getting chants started, now all we have in that department are the members of the Green Machine (thank goodness for them).

I think the word he is looking for is siblinghood, but I am guessing that I am offending some group with that phrase, probably those without siblings. My God yes you are out of touch.
Fraternities and sororities are outdated, binary gender terms that have been banned from university officially-sanctioned speech.
They are there, and still function underground, but things are way different now. There's no "jello shooters" or "anonymous sex" or "cheering at basketball games."
Think more along the lines of Vegan, sexless Greta Thunbergs now, or Will Smith's oldest kid.
Masonettes still seem to knock into me from time to time under the basket in the second half. I move up, ref tells me to move back or just kicks at my shoes as one ref did earlier in the year. So meh on the Masonettes.A few years back they made cheerleaders "club cheerleaders" whereas before they were on some type of scholarship. This year I have noticed a huge drop off with the Masonetts. Well at least you are having some sort of Mason experience! Can't be a Mason fan without having some head scratching moments attending a game, lol.Masonettes still seem to knock into me from time to time under the basket in the second half. Instead of a battle of the bands, let’s host a battle of the WCAC student sections at every game. This morning I watched the highlights of Dinkins and the Gonzaga College HS game. Their student section was better than ours.
I think we need to start recruiting student section fans. Offer a $1,000 scholarship to the best student section fan. We’ll be the first in the country to do it. They give scholarships for everything else - let’s start a trend.
We need the Patriot Center to be like this during the games:
1.
2.
3.
4.
i know their Potomac Falls coach Jeff Hawes pretty well. Great coach! He was my kids’ elementary school gym teacher, and I see him frequently at Dominion High —where my daughter is a junior and my son graduated from last year. The reall nice guy they knew in elementary school is not the same Gary Williams-like crazy man coaching the Panthers.Or like the Panther Pit at Potomac Falls. Somewhere in this group is my son with his JV hoops teammates
Pretty cool! Yeah Coach Hawes is intense but he runs a great program. My son played Freshman ball last year and is on the JV team this year. He'll need to really work hard to make Varsity next season as they will be strong. Meanwhile, they won the Potomac District regular season title last night. Place was packed and loud! Hopefully they will have a deep run in the playoffs. Coach Hawes doesn't sweat like Gary Williams did on the sidelines thoughi know their Potomac Falls coach Jeff Hawes pretty well. Great coach! This would be extremely easy to do if you're only talking $1,000. The MasonHoops.com Student Fan Scholarship. Eligible if you attend every home game.
