Great Season

I promise I have it on good authority from someone I reconnected with that’s in the know. I promised I wouldn’t give details as it would out them but I feel pretty good about the info. I do hope it’s wrong and an overreaction from the players

Brian is on the collective board and is fairly transparent about it (he was about Okojie last season anyway). If they’re chasing NIL money he will probably let us know.

I hope that Chris and Kathy can sprinkle enough chocolate sprinkles on top of the money from the House settlement to keep Hanes here. Let’s be real. Those 2 are our Mike Repole.

With Sec getting 14 it guarantees the NIT will be a joke with LSU and SC getting the 2 auto bids. Why did they ruin the NIT?

So annoying.

I think they ruined everything. I am no "formula expert" but I think vcu would have been left out if they lost. This NET and QUAD stuff sucks. It lets the big boys sniff around in their own conferences and be rewarded for not taking on any challenges. 14 SEC bids?

Agreed. vcu should have at least a 9 seed.

The sec 100% ruined college sports specifically basketball. I wish the sec and big 10 would just leave already.

This tells me that Dayton gets the exempt bid from our conference first. Then us

College basketball has become a joke.

I would assume we’d be an automatic bid team. Conference regular season champion. I’m not sure what our ridiculous KNIT score would be but I’m sure our metrics are good enough for it.

Dayton is 74 and Mason 78.

I dunno, it's confusing lol

This what I read about NIT choosing its teams online

"There will be 16 “exempt” teams, with four spots taken up by the top two teams from the ACC and SEC that were not selected to the NCAA Tournament field. The remaining 12 “exempt” spots will go to the top team in the top 12 conferences based on the KenPom Rankings.

The remaining 16 spots in the 32-team field will go to automatic bids — conference regular-season champions that have a "KNIT" score of 125 or better — and at-large teams of the best available teams that didn’t make March Madness."

So... if exempt teams come first before auto bids... Dayton is chosen first

That’s gone now isn’t it? That’s why nit sucks so bad now. It’s the 10 auto bids for power schools.

The KNIT score is a team's average ranking in these seven metrics: ESPN Basketball Power Index (BPI), Kevin Pauga Index (KPI), NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET), Ken Pomeroy Rating (KenPom), Strength of Record (SOR), Torvik ranking (TOR) and Wins Above Bubble (WAB).

from what's currently available.. unless i'm mistaking what the torvik is on that page:

Code:
bpi kpi net kenpom SOR torvik wab avg
gmu 70 47 68 78 51 70 55 62.7
dayton 72 51 67 71 58 79 62 65.7

edit: also don't know if these are updated after the games today
