GIVING DAY 2023
Piling on here - I used to have season tickets, drove two hours each way to attend games, and moved further away and had to give them up. We attend homecoming now, and if we're lucky, maybe one other game during the season. We nearly always sit in 101 or 102 when we are able to make it. Every single time we attend SOMEONE tells us to sit down or be quiet. I have 11 year old twins who now feel like they can't cheer during games. It's MADDENING. I wish I had a suggestion beyond "just win", but after the several efforts to leave flyers on seats, reorganize the students, have better giveaways, I don't. It feels like reconfiguring seating may be the last possibility...
I'd turn around and tell them to stand up and cheer!

Sure, do this. Great for them. But what does this do for the rest of those in attendance? Not to be a downer as that is not my nature, but do the people in the stands really care about who is honorary captain and his HS team, who on average are no where near the DMV? I mean it's great to have former players around, and if that's what we have to do to entice them to appear, sad but ok.

Everything required had been discussed at one time or another. Winning, Chick-fil-A air drops, the derigible flying around, cater to the students before and during games, lower ticket prices, and lower concession prices are only a fraction of the suggestions I've seen here.

And ........................... nothing changes

PS - not sure why, but I'm a little salty this morning. Carry on.

It is a bummer to see pairs of empty seats in the lower bowl that are clearly season tickets empty during games. I no longer have season tickets, is there an easy way to give your tickets back to the Mason if you're not going to use them? Maybe the school could offer some type of reward points for donating back your unused tickets.

They used to do promotions (I think still do) that moved fans from upper seats to better seats. They should be doing more of this if there are unused seats down low. It costs nothing and creates a cool experience for a casual fan that might entice them to come more often.

I do! you'd swipe your card at the ATM like kiosk and earn end of season rewards based on your attendance.
They used to do that for the students as well, at least when I was in the Patriot Platoon. End of season dinners with Coach L and the team at Brions, official Patriot Platoon branded pint glasses, and other goodies. One year I was even awarded a set of official Nike Elite team warm-ups. For example, this is the brief write-up for the 2008-2009 season: Patriot Platoon Announces Annual Winners

535 Patriot Platoon members, 18 "first team" members (attended every game and some road games), 29 "second team" members, and 15 "third team" members.

They need to bring this reward system back. At this point, nothing seems to be working to get students out, might as well try this next season. Have students swipe their student ID's at a kiosk or if that's too hard to setup....then get an excel spreadsheet printout of the students when the ushers scan their student id's when entering the arena after each game and keep track of it in a database.

Free GM gear and the dinner with Tony would be awesome for students if they accumulate enough points. Have the dinner down in the big room in the basement of the JC and put together some highlight videos and you have a nice dinner function to reward the students. That's how you build loyalty bitches.

It certainly suckered me into buying season tickets for the past 15 years, hah!

I love when Mason says HC is two weeks out in a Tweet and you go to the schedule of events and it's this:

Way to kick things off with a bang!

It's so bizarre how they promote the week and you have to dig to actually figure out the HC game is not til a week and a day after that.

Someone should bring one of these noise makers to EBA home games:

Link here:
At the last home game one of the vendors was giving away some inflated noise makers and someone came up and told him that he had to put them away. I don't know if it was against some NCAA rule or something specific to EBA, but I wouldn't be surprised if the hired goons shake you down for something like that.

Unfortunately it probably falls under the rule of "Intentionally disturbing another guest/employee with loud and unreasonable noise."

I know when I was an usher we were told to confiscate noise makers for graduations. I used to take like half a dozen of them home with me, haha.

Also its under the list of prohibited items.

Still got my card. I loved when they did those dinners and freebies for us.
