Does anyone remember the twins who used to mop up the sweat during games? They are in college now and are tall as hell! Ran into them on the concourse this season, super nice kids.
Yep, I ran into them too. They're playing for a small school. I thinks it's in NC. Their Dad still comes games. He's a good guy too.

True, but I would have no objection to Enter Sandman. We play the beginning going in to the second half, people get hyped for it and start singing it, then the band plays the fight song and just kills the mood. I don't care if VT uses it or if Brock Lesnar uses it for his entrance music in UFC, if it works for us lets use it. It's not like we're singing "Rock Chalk Jayhawk" or "Country Roads Take Me Home" like West Virginia.

I would have less of a problem with this than the blatant University of Wisconsin jump around rip off Merten tried to popularize about a decade ago, but literally does anyone at Mason other than Andy Ruge have one creative bone in their body?

This shit is really not that hard. The song was the best idea I can think of at building some sort of attractive tradition here, and thats a C plus thing at best.

I always liked when the players went through the student section after games - I don't know of any other schools that do that. Of course, it happens like once a year... should happen every game.
I thought people said they were doing that. Did they stop?

It was nice to finish the home season/Senior Day on a win, but did anyone else get the impression that preparations for this event were kinda "phoned in". Starting with not even scanning our tickets at the door. A really nice kid in our section was supposed to get Birthday wishes today, which never happened. Several of the contests during the game didn't involve anyone, just kind of a generic version for the crowd.

There were enough students there to do the find the Apple Gift Card game that is done at most games, so I am not sure why they tried to throw it to the audience only.

I don't recall a game since tickets had a scanning option that the scanner didn't work.

Where was the girl who usually hosts that during timeouts? Maybe not having her led to not doing it (although I'm sure a replacement could have been found).

Greg Kennedy has done the game tons of times and was there (see my avatar).

I was also wondering why the step performance was done AFTER the game (maybe it was too long for a timeout)? That was an interesting/unique/entertaining performance, I'm sure crowd would have been ok with one less Masonette routine.

It also kind of irritated me how the recognition for the Green Machine seniors was an afterthought. It's not the most important thing in the world, but the best pep band in the nation should be afforded some respect, no?

Something I noted as well.. No reason why Omega Psi Phi couldn't have been featured at half time. Save the Masonette routine until a timeout.

I'm a huge fan of the Green Machine--it was the only thing to get excited about going to a game for our down seasons--so don't get me wrong. But how was the recognition of the Green Machine seniors any more of an afterthought than what was done for cheerleaders, Masonettes, and the conference champions track teams?

That's a lot to pack into senior night. Almost tempted to say that a significant % of the crowd actually got to walk across the court while having their name called on the PA.

One suggestion--the Provost student athlete recognition doesn't need to be done on senior night. And perhaps the Green Machine could have a separate game where they and their graduating seniors could be recognized.

Having worked for Special Olympics, I know that playing at halftime was a thrill. However, maybe Sr Night wasn't the right night seeing that we've had a few different Special Olympics local chapters already play at half this year.

Halftime would have been a great time to recognize the Masonettes, cheerleaders and Green Machine seniors. I think it would have been cool to have each of the Green Machine seniors do a quick solo on their respective instrument. Or better yet, announce all the seniors from the Green Machine, Masonettes and cheerleaders and then have the GM members play a song that the Masonettes and cheerleaders can do some choreographed moves to.

Or halftime basketball game by FPYC or SYA or whoever.

I sound like a terrible person, but that may have been the worst National Anthem I have ever heard live. Some of the elementary schools performances have been amazing, but the one on Wednesday was clearly not one of them.
Poor things were way ahead of their back track.

Half of them also tried to skip a verse

To defend them a little bit they did pick a somewhat quirky instrumental version of the National Anthem to play. Don't throw elementary schools kids any curve balls. Keep it simple, very simple.
