I don’t think you are looking at long enough track record of spending. I attempted to put numbers like that together, but could not find enough data. Also, I would theorize that spending takes a minimum of four years to make a difference, except maybe on a coach.Well, interestingly enough, if you look at who has and hasn't been to a postseason tournament recently, we are in the same bucket as two teams who spend markedly more on the sport than we do, and the teams who spend less have all been more recently than we have.
That being said, I don’t know that it helps the rosy viewpoint of the future. If investing in infrastructure doesn’t pay dividends, then we are solely dependent upon our ability to find a great coach at a bargain price. What does our history tell us about that? I’ll let the reader do the math as an exercise on that one.
