Umass is one of those teams in the league that always annoys the crap out of Mason and always seems to play a close game. I can’t see how they win this one being depleted, young and with McCall being at the helm. I suspect McCall is on the hot seat.

You mean like when we let a walk-on score like 15 points against us and take us to OT (if we only had a walk-on that could drop 3-4 treys on an opposing team, even once)? OK, found the game, it was Rayshawn Miller. He played 42 minutes and had 11 points on 4-12 shooting (2-5 from 3), 5 assists, and 2 steals.

Also, making me sad again, Goanar Mar had 18 points on 6-14 shooting (2-2 from 3), 7 rebounds, 2 assists in the game. What happened to that kid?

Good point, tbh I had forgotten how long he had been there. Looks like he signed an extension a few years back but I'd imagine he's hitting the magic 2 years left mark now, I could see him getting the axe after Brooklyn.

The only thing saving him is like what @sleeperpick said, the recruits being freshman. He hasn’t been able to keep much of his team together over the years and there hasn’t been much improvement. If I had to bet, McCall and Neubauer are the two that get axed this year.

We did, kinda. The now infamous George Papas. Would be shooting 50% from 3pt with our cupcake sched. But nooo, Lil Dave had good shooters.

You guess that 30.5% 3pt vs (alot of p5 schools )compared to jds' 18% is better? Not only is it better than jds', but is better than hartwells 28%, and mars 10%.

I mean, he went 0-5 against Iona, 2-6 against Quinnipiac, and 1-5 against Marist, 2-9 against Albany.

We could have offered him a scholarship (actually not sure why we didn’t since we haven’t had a full roster in a long time,) but he would definitely not be a savior on this team. Hopefully the opportunity cost was worth it and Polite and Kolek are the real deal (Papas will be a senior next year and, for now at least, we will have 13 scholarship players for the first time in awhile).

I would like to see them play up tempo when UMASS inevitably decides to play zone. This team is full of guards that can push the ball up the floor without giving the defense enough time to get set.
