GIVING DAY 2023
If you read the article from the SC newspaper a few weeks ago, it seems that South Carolina really wants him. Obviously, he's an alum. They think he's smart, well-connected, and will know how to pick a football coach (for when they come to their senses and fire Muschamp.). I highly doubt whether he gets that job is contingent on showing basketball success at a mid-major.

Being an AD today is primarily about raising money.

So I guess they are betting on potential rather than any previous success. Which is understandable. I've hired several people with that reasoning and it usually works out well ...... usually.

But if I were an SC fan/alumni, I would be worried that no one else is beating down his door with offers. At least that I am aware of.

his buyout owed is 50% of the total dollar amount per year. if he were removed after this season, it would essentially be the same buyout we gave Hewitt.

Does anyone know who paid for Hewitt's buyout? At some schools the rich alumni "donate" the funds used to buy out the unwanted coach. I am unsure if Mason has a rich pool of basketball donors who want the coach gone so bad hat they would pay for the buyout.

I'm assuming student fees bought out Hewitt's contract.

In the post game press conference DP will ask the Mason fan base to be patient and judge him on the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He will also announce that he has identified and is actively recruiting a future A10 player of the year, a 5 foot 2 power forward from Vietnam, who will put us back on the national map.
I think Samnang used up all of his NCAA eligibility years ago. Sorry... go fish!

You pounded the table for more playing time for Calixte last year, now he can't even beat out a two star freshman with Reuter gone...

I'm assuming it's his free throw shooting, but for whatever reason Paulsen has never trusted Calixte -- started off behind Mar at the 5 his freshman season, behind Reuter his sophomore season, and hasn't played more than 22 minutes in a game his junior season.

Bingo except our bigs ARE serviceable.
This. They aren't spectacular but there's not a big enough gap between their games where I wouldn't be happy just letting them each out there for an equal amount of time. Maybe let Oduro start and get a few more mins than Greg for development purposes.

It's a bit disappointing Greg's offensive game never really developed but he's by no means lost out there. If Oduro makes any sort of strides defensively and in the weight room he'll be better his junior year than Greg is now.

No idea if we bounce back here, we play like crap in their little middle school gym usually. Young team where they got blown away by Dayton. Spencer seems to be their best player, transfer from Clemson.

There is where we miss a player like Retuer who was a playmaking post player who could bail us out on backdoor passes when the 3pt isn't falling. I would have loved for paulsen to hit the JUCO lines to get a big body to rebound, that is where we have lacked so far in league play.

So now we miss Reuter, after an entire season of trashing him? Seriously?

Agree with Jim here, we still don't miss Reuter. Wish we had a big man who could also pass; sure I think every single team in the country would like to have that but I would never go as far as to say we miss Reuter after that game. We need to have a offense that we can go to that can beat a zone without relying on ball movement from our bigs because it's just not going to happen this year. Coach around the players you have, not the ones we wish we had.

Relax. I have never bashed reuter, I liked his offensive game a LOT. Defense and athleticism was bad but at least he made the right passes and can make a FT. Now Oduro can stretch out the Defense a little bit from the FT line because of his mid-range, i'm just curious why that high post grab and backdoor cut couldn't be done with Oduro in zone situations.
