Looks like AJ might be in for a big night on blocks...J St is 350th in Div 1 on Block % when they are on offense. Mason on the other hand is 18th on Block % on defense. Anyone see the Vegas line over/under on blocks by Mason tonight? :)

I'm as pleased as anyone with how the team has done this year, especially considering the injury adversities. But before we get too carried away, Kenpom also has a metric on "Luck", where we're rated 6th in Division 1.

Definition:
Luck – A measure of the deviation between a team’s actual winning percentage and what one would expect from its game-by-game efficiencies. It’s a Dean Oliver invention. Essentially, a team involved in a lot of close games should not win (or lose) all of them. Those that do will be viewed as lucky (or unlucky).

Let's hope that with Kier's return, our offensive and defensive "efficiencies" improve enough to justify our record!

Where does this Luck measurement put us when factoring in injuries, coaching changes and transfers over the past 9 years?

For all you gold room sprinting olympians- looks like they are giving away cayman island t shirts to the first 500 fans at the pat dome. Will be a tough call if you want to be the first one to get glory days and cookies or if you want a free t shirt.

Aren't those who sprint for the Gold Room among the first to enter the Pat Dome and scoop up giveaways? Or does it not work that way?

"LONGEST ROAD TRIP OF THE YEAR The Gamecocks wrap up their longest road trip of the season tonight at George Mason. JSU hit the road Wednesday, Nov. 27 for the Emerald Coast Classic, playing two games in Florida, before flying from Panama City, Fla., to Washington, D.C., on Sunday, Dec. 1. Jacksonville State will have been on the road eight days when it arrives back in Alabama, having played three games in five days."

"IMPROVED ACCURACY FROM THE ARC The Gamecocks currently rank 77th in the NCAA and second in the OVC in 3-point percentage, hitting 36.5 percent of shots taken from beyond the arc. Last season, JSU shot 31.5 from 3-point range, ranking 312th in the nation and 11th (of 12 teams) in the OVC.

45TH-HARDEST SCHEDULE IN THE NCAA According to ESPN, the Gamecocks have the 45th-hardest schedule for the 2019-20 season. It is the second-toughest schedule in the OVC behind just Eastern Illinois, whose schedule ranks 17th in the NCAA. JSU’s schedule features three opponents in the BPI’s Top 50: Purdue (15), Tennessee (28) and vcu (49)."

Good point!

The hope for us is that we've gone from 155 to 119 in the Kenpom rankings essentially with only a little bit of contribution from our best returning player. Despite that improvement, we still are only pegged at 8th best in the A10 and 9-9 in the conference (up slightly from 8-10).

Fair I forgot that they hand them out at the entrances.

Hoping there's no rust at the start of the game tonight. Fast start and let's go. Should be a double digit win.

The strategy of “whip a low, hard pass into one of our players in the paint’s ankles” is not a particularly good one. Odd to see the offense try the same thing over and over when it clearly wasn’t working.

That being said, very little went right and we’re only down one.

The broadcast is so factually wrong at all times. If we’re going to have the same broadcaster on ESPN+ every game, can he at least pretend to care about the game? Or even pretend to follow the games he isn’t calling?

Any theories as to why our starting lineup was what it was tonight? Wasn’t what they briefed in the goldroom pregame.
