GIVING DAY 2023
I don't think whoever writes their summaries pay much attention. I think they said on the vcu game preview that the game started at 6pm too or some sort of mistake. I figure they make mistakes well beyond what conference Mason is in, but at least they didn't make up a school and call us the George Madison Colonials of the Patriot League.

I hope our team is more disciplined than my other team the Jets, who won 3 games, partied, lost focus...and then lost to the Bengals. This is the equivalent to that game.

I hope we play this game like its the national championship and win by 35

https://www.a10talk.com/the-atlantic-10-eats-well-during-feast-week/:

"We all know Dayton had a chance to take down Kansas (and almost did) in the final round of the Maui Invitational, but lesser known is George Mason winning in the Cayman Islands and La Salle winning the Gulf Coast.

I was skeptical of GMU’s 5-1 start after the Patriots struggled to get by weaker opponents in Navy and Long Island. Mason blew everyone’s socks off down in the Caribbean, though. The wins only got better as GMU made its way through the bracket: Old Dominion, Nebraska, and New Mexico St. (Kenpom 162, 143, and 88 respectively).

Now, George Mason stands at 8-1 with 3 easy home tests approaching. In fact, Kenpom gives the Patriots 80%, 79%, and 81% chances of victory in their next 3. George Mason then goes on the road with a chance to down TCU, which would be the icing on the cake to a great non-conference slate. If George Mason goes 11-2 before starting league play, I think GMU fans should be absolutely thrilled."

Look on the bright side, a win wouldn't get them in the playoffs but would have knocked them out of the top 10 draft picks.

'Skins at this point seem determined to finish just high enough to miss out on the best player at their biggest position of need. (not that they wouldn't F it up anyway)

For all you gold room sprinting olympians- looks like they are giving away cayman island t shirts to the first 500 fans at the pat dome. Will be a tough call if you want to be the first one to get glory days and cookies or if you want a free t shirt.

So, when was the last time gameday felt like "cool, a minnow. We will blow their doors off and give the young guys a ton of minutes to develop. It'll pay off in a couple years"?

It's a really good feeling.

I don’t disagree but that means mason wins by 5 in a sloppy game now and the board has meltdowns on why they only beat a sub 200 team by 5 lol.

We only have two healthy freshmen and they’re already playing a ton. Maybe JDS gets more than 1 minute? Maybe Tempchin scores? Maybe Chance gets a block?

All this talk of blow out and let the subs get some playing time seems like a setup. We can do it all day, I just hope the players aren't. I will continue to just be happy to win.

KenPom has it as a 10-point win.

They went 24-9 last year, beating Belmont twice and Murray State once (granted the team had five seniors who contributed).

I'm as pleased as anyone with how the team has done this year, especially considering the injury adversities. But before we get too carried away, Kenpom also has a metric on "Luck", where we're rated 6th in Division 1.

Definition:
Luck – A measure of the deviation between a team’s actual winning percentage and what one would expect from its game-by-game efficiencies. It’s a Dean Oliver invention. Essentially, a team involved in a lot of close games should not win (or lose) all of them. Those that do will be viewed as lucky (or unlucky).

Let's hope that with Kier's return, our offensive and defensive "efficiencies" improve enough to justify our record!
