I don't see the need to pick on Goanar for this game. Our worst player today was Kier. He started off the season really strong but has seen a decrease in form over the last few games.
oh no, definitely not picking on him at all! he just jumped out at me the most when I saw his (relatively) empty stat lines

He looked like a new player to start the year, he’s back to last years form though. Just kind of eating minutes without costing us anything but not really contributing.

Never thought he was a deep threat but was excited he seemed to add a drive and step back. Haven’t seen it since Binghamton though.

Just going to say it, Why can't Paulsen have his team ready to pay at the tip?

It comes back to that suspension that Marko had where he didnt let Barbara in the JC go through all the payment options and Paulsen found out about it.

Despite poor roster development, you gotta love the fight these boys show, even if it is just for a half.

Just watched on replay...

Auburn is a good team. I am fine with the loss. Terrible start but enough good to build on.

Welcome to the bigs Javon Green!

Mar looked to be lacking confidence for the first time. Sure that will be rare.

Grayer was a beast.

Otis - always good- had a couple passes I am sure he would like back.

I’d like to see more AJ when we are playing a physical team.

Fwiw, this is the type of game that showed how we ended up with a player like Mar. In high school, he was a size / skill matchup problem. The schools he played against in the beginning of the season, he was a size / skill matchup problem. He may even be a size / skill matchup problem in the A10. Against the power 5 he's not a size / skill matchup problem (at this point).

Obviously he's a freshman, and obviously he'll develop, and I think when he's an upperclassman he'll be a size/skill matchup problem for ANYBODY, but the difference between the power 5 and the second-tier, is guys like Mar are contributors as freshman at our level, and don't contribute until they're upperclassmen at the power five level.

I don't think I'm being an anyway disrespectful to him or our program, or our level, but that's why you want a lineup full of upperclassmen that have spent three or four years developing.

DJ3 You have some of the most insightful comments that I have read on MasonHoops.com. This is interesting how Paulsen does not pay at the tip

Well sorry its frustrating to see the same issue every time. I love what Paulsen has done with this team. But there is a pattern that cant be ignored. Mason plays like crap the first half of every game. Perhaps Paulsen and staff are not scouting the other team properly. or his pep talk isn't good before games. But Mason comes out flat every game.

We are 8 games into the season
Average first half points: 30.75 points
Average 2nd half points 36.5 points

Much bigger issue the past 4 games.
Average first half points: 28.5
Average 2nd half points 40.5

This is a result of coaching. Paulsen does a really good job of adjusting at the half, but he needs to do a much better job of getting his players ready to play from the tip.

So he chose us over Iowa St, Nebraska, Xavier offers as well as hard looks from Minnesota and Wisconsin because he wanted to play against the minor leagues in college? This post isn't necessarily disrespectful but it is certainly stupid!

Loved the heart and the comeback yesterday. If there's one early season pattern I'd love to see changed it's Otis inbounding the ball under the hoop. We must have at least a half dozen turnovers this season just on those entry passes. Maybe have Justin take over this job instead?
