Defense is on point but man its an offensive struggle. I'm convinced Reuter is in there because he has a bit of offense to the game, but man he can't rebound and his defense is suspect.

Otis looks better, I'm hoping this is a trend.

If you really think about it, this season looks a lot like last season, only overcorrected: how many 1 possession games did we eke out last year? How many games did we build leads only to fall apart in the second half? Some of those went our way, some didn’t. The same weaknesses I. Last year’s team are the same in this year’s (minus the lack of a bench).

Yes very true. Also a lot of those eeked out victories (JMU, St Joes, vcu) came later in the year when the team was playing better ball, except JMU which took a miracle.

Its easy to say well things should improve as the season goes on, and I'm confident that they probably will. But at the same rate, you would think a lot of these kinks would have been worked out with extra practice time, a bonding trip and just overall experience.

Just super frustrating but that is why Paulsen gets paid to be a D1 coach and none of us are.

Forgot to mention one of the weaknesses of this team is a complete inability to play under pressure. As an example last year, with a chance to finish top 4 in the league the team got their doors blown off by a not very good Richmond team at home in the last game of the season.

The defense today looked totally different than what we were seeing a week or two ago. And we did a great job of getting to the FT line today, with an ok (not great) percentage.

But the offense? Yikes. We can't keep shooting 35% and expect to win. The good news is Otis looked a lot more like himself, hopefully he's out of his slump now. Otherwise...

I really am starting to wonder if we undersold how many weaknesses last season's team had because they stole 4 or 5 extra wins in January and February.
