Says the Mason grad who said he will root for us to lose every game we play this year in the A10. That's about as low as it gets in my book.
I also noticed you chose not to post one comment after our victory against UNI, but you couldn't wait to pounce today when the team plays like crap. At least your fellow dooms-dayers GSII and KA offer praise when it is warranted.
I've never considered Hewitt a great coach and I don't know if he is the answer here, but he's also not remotely as bad as you want to paint him out to be. Unlike our previous coach, Hewitt will justifiably take responsibility for today's loss; but anybody here with any basketball comprehension knows this game was lost in the first 10 minutes when we missed at least 7 wide-open layups.
I hope the team feels the pain from this loss and learns from it. I'm furious with the way we played today, but I'm also very happy to be 4-1 given the injuries and Copes suspension.
First of all, I was out of town and not checking this site last weekend. Family commitments trump Mason hoops for me, sorry to say.
But hey, that UNI game isn't the first good performance we've had since Hewitt was hired. Just like at GT, his teams can bring it sometimes.
We're just not consistent at all, and we're not making any progress.
Now we have four seniors and four juniors, all of whom are in their third year of playing in Hewitt's system. And we're seeing the same stuff we saw in his first season, when everyone was so eager to give him time. The time for excuses is over.
I think he's a very good recruiter, but not even close to good enough to overcome his shortcomings as a coach. We'll need to have clearly better talent than the rest of the A-10 to win in this league, and that's not happening any time soon.
