I completely agree, which is why I warned people to temper their expectations this year. When you return the same coaches and players from a mediocre team, there is a pretty good chance you are going to return a mediocre team. Everything we did very well against UNI was thrown out the window today.

way to sneak in 'coaches' there.

The scary stat about today's game is that our players from NY/NJ are a combined 4-18 from the floor. If there was ever a game where you wouldn't think we would sleepwalk through it, it had to be this one.

Also scary is that Iona has done nothing special at all.

They've missed a ton of 3s, given a bunch of fouls, and turned it over.

Wins and losses aside, I long for the day when we have a team that's willing to play hard, ferocious basketball like we used to.

This soft, disorganized crap is what we are and what we'll be as long as the professor is in charge.

But there is one positive: At least we're running out of excuses. At some point he's gonna be held accountable.

Hewitt is the one not doing anything special. I'd of benched whoever wasn't playing D. So would any decent coach with half a brain.

Should we apologize to the rest of the A-10?
Hey Fordham is feeling left out by that remark...My long term view is this: Hewitt better win this year because we're not doing squat next year. Hopefully, after that it would be curtains. That would be 4 years of mediocre to bad basketball. W e just can't let Bill Lumbergh give him an extension.

Kind of hard to bench the whole team. Blame on Hewitt for not having them ready to play.

I doubt it was the whole team. Jenkins sounds like he came to play.

I'd start with the so called leaders. But Hewitt is too nice. It's not cool to lose in this fashion and he should of thrown his jacket for a performance like this. He has no fire which the players can feed off. Even if another player has that fire in him, Hewitts approach and whatever the f**k he does, finds a way to suppress it.

What a ridiculously horrid game. This team just loves to start off in a deep whole and spend the rest of the game trying to come back. Iona wasn't even going to let them get close. I am hugely disgusted.

Can TOC bench Hewitt for a few games to send a message?

I think everyone is tired of seeing his teams, Ga Tech included, start games or play in these mental funks. He needs to change his approach/personality. I don't care if he has to make it an act. Or we could fire him.

I'd start with the so called leaders.

You lost me after that sentence. Who exactly would you consider a leader on this team? It's definitely not Sherrod, Arledge or J2, and it doesn't look like Allen is going to accept that role. Guys like Marko and Jenkins show the most passion, but you know a team is in trouble when you are relying on a freshman and sophomore to lead the way.

The reality nobody wants to hear is that Hewitt's not going anywhere for at least another two seasons. We are obviously going to lose some offense with our seniors graduating, but it will be nice to get some defensive-first players in here who have a desire to punch back when they get hit rather than folding like a house of cards.

I feel sorry for Hewitt. Between GT and Mason...he has been saddled with players that are unmotivated, lazy and have no hoops IQ.

If he could just get the right players......

Why would be be fired? For his first 2 years he had more combined wins than any coach in GMU history over a 2 year period. His kids generally stay out of trouble, get good grades and he is leading us into a new, better conference. And he's so far won 80% of his games this year while missing several starters and dealing with a senior starter who may no longer be part of the program. Perhaps a few people on here get a little too passionate about this subject.
