The Green Machine belongs to the Admission Dept. - I'm guessing funding comes through there. Typically they also hit a high school or two and play with marching bands with their 'come to Mason' message.

They did a concert in the park in Charleston last year.

Their drum line does the same, hitting up the high school drum line competitions recruiting kids.

Eta -- the bus and the hotel is paid for this trip. No food stipend. Previous Brooklyn trips they got meals funding as well.

And another eta - nice hotel in Ft. Myers on the ocean - 4 to a room.

Yeah - 2-1 would exceed my expectations. I'm guessing 1-2 and hopefully Mason can creep back up to .500 with the games remaining in November and December. GMU has been close - so going 0-3 would be just as disappointing as losing to MSM.

We had one of these back when Masonhoops first started in 1998. It can't hurt.

I was thinking, could we pull a Mason basketball conference call? Basically, all the posters call in and in a structured manner say their piece about the school/program etc. We could even let the AD and DP listen in without anyone knowing. Ok back to my nap.

Neat idea, but the monetization and hastiness of it is very sophomoric. Without some sort of authentication, I could post as GSII and say some really racist shit and everyone would be really pissed at him. The layout is ok, but I think rushed. I can't even see the content without scrolling down. The good is that a chat for people right away while watching the game could be fun, but this is open to abuse and just doesn't feel right. I like ad free sites, but I understand the cost issue of hosting. However, can that be put at the bottom?

I don't hate the idea, but I suspect on a phone call it wouldn't be the most productive. Perhaps maybe just a general Q&A with Edwards and Paulsen at the end of the season or something....

Yeah, we want to add Twitter auth for the chat, but it is a work in progress and it's only gonna be up for this specific tournament to see how fans will use it and if its something people want so we can develop a more robust version for next season.

Based on the scores and the little I've watched of this tournament, I don't see a team that will be easy fro Mason to beat. All the games have been close. Lose tonight and get what looks like a pretty good Kent State team tomorrow.
