Wahab is probably a legit NBA talent, there will be some really interesting matchups in this one. This will be our first look at how we shoot away from home. Gonna learn a lot about this squad in this game.

Regardless of the outcome I think it’s a one possession game.
I must admit I don't know much about Wahab's game, but I did notice this column about their Vermont game:

The defense can go small.

A slight defensive tweak played a significant role in Saturday’s win.
At 6-foot-11 and 240 pounds, junior center and Georgetown transfer Qudus Wahab is an intimidating presence. But against a quick, motion-heavy opponent like Vermont, Wahab played only 23 minutes, compiling a season-low six points and eight rebounds.

In the second half when Maryland needed defensive stops, Wahab was replaced by 6-9, 230-pound freshman Julian Reese, a St. Frances graduate who played a season-high 20 minutes, and graduate student shooting guard and Old Dominion transfer Xavier Green rotated with starters Hakim Hart and Eric Ayala to limit Catamounts graduate student shooting guard been Shungu to seven of his 27 points in the final 20 minutes.
“Their guys are really good and tough, and they move and they screen,” said Green, who had five rebounds, one steal and one assist. “Q’s a big body, but it’s a lot of movement. So we needed just a smaller group in there. We could still rebound, we could still push it on the break, we can still run through our offense. So going smaller gave us more of a defensive presence just because they’re a good cutting team.”
Vermont coach John Becker pointed out that Northern Iowa attempted a similar strategy, but could not keep up in a 71-57 win for the Catamounts on Thursday night.
“I thought they matched down to us a little bit there, which was a good thing because the big fella down there is a load,” he said, referring to Wahab. “It was a good coaching move on their part, and it kind of neutralized some of the advantages we had with the smaller lineup.

I'm thinking that Oduro moves around more than most bigs and the terps may take Wahab out like they did in the Vermont game in order to keep up with our speed. Just a thought.

Thanks, just signed myself up. 3 people have registered so far, not looking like a good turnout.
I understand correctly, the people riding the bus will be dropped off at this event, and they aren't showing up in the numbers.

might see a lot of 5-out sets with Wahab in to move him out of the paint. Put Oduro (or Henry) on the block when he comes out. The trick will be to make sure Oduro doesn’t pick up fouls trying to guard him on the other side.

All our shooters are going to have to be on. It’ll be interesting to see if Schwartz, Cooper, and XJ can get past their man and into the paint. And the biggest thing is limiting easy looks the other way. Have to muck up the game a bit and battle for every inch and keep up the work on the defensive glass.

The email I got said they'd only do the bus if they got 25 people to sign up. Hopefully there was enough interest to get a good crew up there.

Yes, there was enough interest. The bus trip IS happening. As of this morning, there was still room if anyone wants to sign up.

Kenpom has Maryland favored by 16. That's down by 2 from their projected spread before our game with Morgan State.

....
Sagarin has Maryland (#31) favored by about 8 over #91 Mason, including a 3 pt home advantage.

Also within the A10, Mason is 5th, ranked behind, in order, SBU, SLU, Davidson, and Richmond.

Differences in KenPom vs Sagarin probably due to greater influence of preseason ratings in KenPom, I would guess. Those preseason Kenpom ratings have greater reliance on last season and with our coaching change and the transfers, they probably are less relevant to where we are currently.

How are we behind Richmond. Seriously.

Mason will get their chance on the court against them (x2). Who cares about ratings and rankings after 1 week?
Well, I kinda like to see us shooting up the charts. But yes, it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

Winning games and shooting up the standings is how that will happen. Prove it against the competition. So far so good.

When I lived in the area, I made every excuse possible not to make it up to College Park.

Hope y'all have safe travels.
