That's usually my attitude, but right now I'm feeling more like "This was our chance, and it's gone." I hate the new landscape of college ball, never really building something. It just gives me the sense that this team was special and we ALMOST made it to the promised land, but now it's over. I'm usually an optimist, so hopefully I'll get there again soon
That is how I am feeling now. A few years go I would be happy because I could have said that we are building something. However, with the landscape of college sports now you just never know. I do trust CTS because he is a great leader/person, and has proven to be a damn good coach. While the NIT is good for the players and us fans (the loyal fans) but does it help us with recruiting...I don't think so. Players want two things these days...money and to play in the tournament. Until we get back to the tournament, I don't know when I'll be an optimist again.

Yes, and it's hard to "build" in this age of players chasing the money and not having to sit out a year.

I gotta say, this is unusual for me, but with a couple days' distance I'm not feeling any better. If anything, it's worse. I'm bitterly disappointed about the end of this season. Not at coach or the players, and not just an amplification of my hatred of vcu, but just a general sadness and disappointment. Anyone else?

I understand where you are at, but, I don't think it follows from the facts of the situation:
The team will still be coached by Tony, the same guy that built this team in a little less than two years.
It is this landscape that you dislike that he seems to thrive in
It is this landscape that has enabled him to make the changes needed to do what he has done in such a short period.
He has shown to be an excellent recruiter in this landscape.
As a side note, vcu will be looking for a new coach in the very near future. You figure that they have to miss on hiring a coach at some point.

Yup. For now, the way we build from year to year primarily depends upon Tony building his resume and growing as a coach. . . and retaining him. As long as that is happening, I’m excited for the future.

Would the A10 get more respect instantly if it wasn’t stretched across six networks and hard to track when games might be and where to find them? Television too lazy to tell stories; they only use talking heads to scream brand names at each other

I'm more angry at the factors that have led a 26-8, 15-3 A-10 team to not even be considered a bubble team. 5 or 10 years ago, is this team in?

That said, I love this team and hope to see them go far in the NIT.

Agree 100%. The disrespect for one of the better basketball leagues, in favor of 14 SEC teams, is ridiculous. It feels like if Mason stayed in the CAA we would have danced at least 7 times in the last 14 years. Joining a multi-bid league, and finally getting good right when it stops being a multi-bid league, sucks.

To be clear, and I think I said this originally, my anger or sadness or whatever is not directed at Mason. Love this team and rooting hard for an NIT banner. And, absolutely, believe in Coach Skinn

To add to this:
We are still playing; vcu is not.
We will still have our current coach next season; vcu will not.

To add that:

We played with Inspiration and gusto
yesterday vs, Samford.

Against BYU .. vcu did NOT.

But, that's what happens when a team relies on the refs to NOT call that teams:aggregious fouls. vcu had 23 fouls today—over five above their season average.

I've been saying this for years. Watching vcu play without friendly refs is always eye opening
