I gotta say, this is unusual for me, but with a couple days' distance I'm not feeling any better. If anything, it's worse. I'm bitterly disappointed about the end of this season. Not at coach or the players, and not just an amplification of my hatred of vcu, but just a general sadness and disappointment. Anyone else?
That's usually my attitude, but right now I'm feeling more like "This was our chance, and it's gone." I hate the new landscape of college ball, never really building something. It just gives me the sense that this team was special and we ALMOST made it to the promised land, but now it's over. I'm usually an optimist, so hopefully I'll get there again soon
That is how I am feeling now. A few years go I would be happy because I could have said that we are building something. However, with the landscape of college sports now you just never know. I do trust CTS because he is a great leader/person, and has proven to be a damn good coach. While the NIT is good for the players and us fans (the loyal fans) but does it help us with recruiting...I don't think so. Players want two things these days...money and to play in the tournament. Until we get back to the tournament, I don't know when I'll be an optimist again.
I understand where you are at, but, I don't think it follows from the facts of the situation:
The team will still be coached by Tony, the same guy that built this team in a little less than two years.
It is this landscape that you dislike that he seems to thrive in
It is this landscape that has enabled him to make the changes needed to do what he has done in such a short period.
He has shown to be an excellent recruiter in this landscape.
As a side note, vcu will be looking for a new coach in the very near future. You figure that they have to miss on hiring a coach at some point.
