4 seasons and Paulsen can't find a 1st team A10 caliber player. Where do we go from here? Moore, Jenkins, Thompson are the best players from his era here and they were all Hewitt players. I would argue Marko is way better than any big Paulsen has brought here. Where do we go from here. I work hard for my money. How can I keep funding this fail. What are your thoughts, I'm curious?

He has one more season to show us he can coach us to a meaningful post season. vcu loses today but they are most likely dancing anyway. If he can’t put us in a position for even an NIT bid, he has got to go.

AS long as Paulson is running this program expect to be disappointed next year and all the the remaining years he is here. His problem is poor recruiting and just poor coaching. He is not the answer. If mediocrity is your goal than he is your man.

I think next year we will be lucky to win 10 games. Problem is Mason is too cheap to eat any salary, so get ready for more of the same.

I don’t care about our bench. Bonnie’s played 6 against us and won anyway. Dayton and Davidson also have short benches.

We needed Otis and Greene to step up this game and they didn’t (combined 2-13) and that cost us.

Next year will be same. Mediocre.

Sadly, this is very true, if not optimistic. We essentially return the same team (sans Otis) in a league that is going to be vastly improved, and it's not like the cavalry is coming in with our recruiting class. Sure, a few players might get better and the new guys might chip in, but the flip side is a few players might regress (like Marr), get hurt (like Boyd), not live up to the hype (Reuter) and not be given a legitimate shake (Douglas-Stanley).

The X-factor in all of this is Dave. Nothing will change unless he stops being so damn stubborn about his offensive and defensive schemes. There was a great article in the Post this week about Coach K finally implementing a zone defense after being adamantly opposed to it for many years. I agree with those who say Dave deserves to return, but nothing will change if he doesn't.

At best, we are picked seventh next year, right?

vcu, Davidson, Dayton, Bonaventure, Duquesne, URI all clearly ahead of us. Possibly SLU as well.

Should be picked 7th or 8th.

If everything goes perfectly, I think we most likely finish 5th again, unless we get astronomical improvement out of the 5 position.

Agree with Tom, we played better last season in a 1-3-1. Why isn’t that our base defense? With our potential length on the wings (Miller, Mar, Greene, Kier) we can jump a lot of passing lanes and get steals. We can’t play this slow half-court grind it out style next season without players who can hit outside shots. We have to get a lot more run outs and fast break points.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a guy or two transfer out. That’s not making a huge prediction given how many transfers in college basketball there are every year. My money would be on a guy like JDS. The kid can’t drain 3’s sitting on the bench.

The lack of perimeter shooting also gets magnified exponentially, because we really have no low-post game, either. Most of our points in the paint are drives by Kier, tip-ins and offensive put-backs by Miller, and the occasional bucket by Calixte.

^^^this. Dave / Brad at a minimum, owe the fan base that makes donations to the program a “state of the program” of sorts. Let us know what you’ve done with our hard earned money, where do you see the program going? Give us something to be excited about. I dislike Paulsen for a myriad of reasons, but the dude absolutely sucks with media/communicating with the fan base. Who are you excited about? How are we tweaking the system for next year? Give us something other than your bullshit canned statement about how great we are practicing. Just give us something.
