Grayer has been a trooper despite the foot injury earlier in the season. His numbers were lights out before the injury.

He knows we’re short handed this season and knew he had to tough it out and he did.
Once again nothing but but great character young men on this team.

If Paulsen valued stars more than the intangibles, we’d be playing in the PIG this year instead of being a 5 seed, winning our first A10 tourney game and gettin. Ready to pay St. Joes tomorrow.

Let’s give Grayer some credit instead of killing him for toughing it out for the team this year.

I watched that. I don't agree with him. I do get his perspective, though, and don't begrudge it.

I get that and I hate to see refs make the winning play, but what's the alternative if you don't call that? You essentially give free reign for either side to foul the livin' crap out of each other to avoid the shot going in or to bulldoze a path to the basket.

They are just lulling UMASS into a false sense of security. Massive green and gold wave in the second half.

I told a similar thing to the lady next to me from vcu (was actually nice unlike the douchebag I posted the picture of earlier) before the game started and as UMASS was building a lead. I told her it was part of our game plan to go easy first half so they don’t think they need to adjust. She thought I was crazy. By the end, i think she thought I was serious.

I suspect that they didn’t think umass could get down the court quick enough to square up and hit a shot and they would take their chances. That said otherwise I agree, since the last thing we needed was a miracle shot to force overtime. Fortunately Pimpkins was a dummy and extended his hand.

Great result. Their was a lot of bone-headedness in the first 15 minutes that I’m glad we shook off. The 3 offensive fouls were frustrating because it showed we were out of control.

A lot of great rebounding down low which was awesome to see. Calixte is going to be a very solid player.

Loved the contributions from all 4 freshmen. It seemed like AJ was everywhere and had some really nice put backs. He really took advantage of his minutes. 13 minutes, 11 points, 9 rebounds. Almost a double-double.

Can’t say enough about the effort on the glass today and getting to the paint to get free throw attempts. AJ and Greg did great work down low. I’m glad to see the progression and can’t wait until they have Reuter to help supplement them.

This team knows how to stick together and get it done even when down big. I much rather see them not play like crap for half but such is life. They made my trek starting at 5am very worthwhile. Can’t wait for tomorrow and to see what they got. This is March, and this is FUN. Let’s make sure we are loud and proud tomorrow from the jump.

The plan was to foul him over halfcourt, but they didn't get to execute it. One of my big J journalist friends asked Otis in the locker room, no big deal. Kind of terrifying if you ask me since Pipkins gets his shot up so damn quickly and we were only up three. That's super risky.

Re: Grayer: no one wants to go on record with anything but it's obvious he's not fully healthy. He's battling right now and we should all love him to death for it. Javon's defense and AJ's work on the boards today kept the season alive.
