Davidson loses like 4 of their 8 players that get minutes. Kellan Grady is good but no way Davidson is better than us next year

They return 4 of their 5 starters. And outside Will Margarity (and even he is a stretch) I wouldn’t lose sleep over losing fun any of the other seniors outside of Aldridge.

Grady, Gudmunsson, Pritchett, Kovacevec, Michelson should be a formidable starting 5 next year and they won’t have any seniors on that team.

Richmond will be a lot better. We should be a lot better. UMass and SLU will be better.

SBU lose a lot, but will still have some good players coming up. If URI convince Hurley to stay, they also lose a lot but will also have good players to build around. vcu lose Tillman basically (Williams, too, but they have that transfer PG red-shirting this year) and I don’t expect them to get a whole lot worse. Most of Dayton’s talent is coming back, so maybe Grant figures them out.

So I do expect to have 4 or 5 teams in the top 100 next year. Hopefully we are a top 30 team

Anyone doubting the effect of adding a player like Reuter should consider the following:

We won 15 games and got a 5 seed for the
A-10 tournament without a low-post threat. We will be able to throw the ball to Reuter and let him initiate offense instead of having to rely on guards to create everything. He’s also a legit threat to hit a jumper in high-ball screen situations, which will force the opposing 5 to come out of the paint and create driving lanes.

Reuter is smart and a willing/able passer, meaning that once he forces opponents to double the post, we’ll have the luxury to pass the ball back out and move it for a wide-open shot.

He’s 260 pounds. He’s not a shot-blocker but nobody in the A-10 is gonna back him down and abuse him at the rim. His presence will immediately make us a more staunch defensive club.

He also allows Calixte to come off the bench and keep developing his game as a role player instead of getting thrown into a spot for which he’s not physically ready.

With Reuter, Calixte, Mar and Wilson, we have a quality 2-deep at the 4 and 5 spots for the first time since Larranaga left.

Barring something unforeseen, I don’t know why we shouldn’t be one of the favorites in the A-10 next season. This is what the staff has been building toward since Day 1.

Late the party.... I was really frustrated the last 10 mins with Paulsen's subbing... caught up to Richmond with AJ on court... then he sits AJ, Greg, and Jaire (he looked off so I get that) and then Grant Golden the vaping hipster of Richmond starts going off because we play a shitty 1-3-1 zone if you can even call it that. @gmujim92 I need help explaining both of these moves when you have the time.

A lot of the hovering around .500 teams will be better next year - us included. The key next year will be how the A10 does out of conference at the beginning of the year. Depth and balance isn’t a bad thing when the RPI’s are strong, but it will kill you when your +100’s.

It will be interesting to see how we approach our ooc schedule next year. Not sure if true road games against power 5’s are wise like this year’s Louisville or Auburn games. Hopefully we can get a bigger name or two at a neutral site in a tournament.

I've asked Rick Barnes to schedule us next year, and I will reiterate it to him tonight when I see him.
