I couldn't watch the game tonight so I read this thread to get a flavor for the game. I've never seen manic depression manifested so clearly than what I've read tonight. I don't think this team deserves Wayne Newton Appreciation Night

I'm already incredibly bored with the "having trouble dealing with the expectations" crap. Good teams have high expectations placed on them. They are coached up to it.

Here’s more. We lost a game where we shot 60% from 3 and made 14 of them!!!! That should never ever ever ever ever happen. We shot 51% from the field and the other team only made 2 3s. Jesus H Christ.

The anger is justified. Fans of other teams coming on and torching us would be justified (but we're not relevant enough in our own league for people to care enough to do that anymore). Blaming the coach, blaming the players, making excuses, yelling "NO MORE EXCUSES," hopeless optimism, extreme pessimism... It's all good. But fans who can't wait for us to fail so that they can say "Told Ya So" are grating on me even more than team's performance.

Well guys, guess what. JDS got in the game at .58 secs mark, down 9. If it wasn't for otis dribbling off his leg maybe JDS leads is back to victory with back to back to back 3's. He can do that sort of thing.

DP just doesn't put a premium on defense. He thinks basketball has evolved into a three point shooting contest. In addition for three years we have been watching opposing guards just cruising down the lane for easy points. How many points did GS get in close 50. To me I keep asking the question, where are the big men. you know athletic 6 9 or 6 10 players who intimidate the opposition? I think the last player we had like that was Mike Morrison. Reuter, come on, the guy has no quicks, no jumping ability and poor conditioning. I haven't seen him challenge anyone down low.
Look the season isn't over, but dam WTF. Stop the excuses and get these guys to put out. Otis and Mar seem bewildered. Lets hope they wake up. Why cant they set some simple screens so they can regain some confidence. Maybe this team will wake up before the season is lost.

You guys are so negative.

Don’t you know that Saturday they are giving away fanny packs? I mean, if I had my choice between a few meaningless wins and a George Mason fanny pack, I sure as hell know what I’m choosing.

Fanny packs? Sweet I'll have something to use when I rollerblade now like everyone was doing in 1995 when Westhead was here and nobody went to basketball games except to buy drugs from Jason Williams.

I was at that American game in 95, the Drexel “cheesesteak massacre” somewhere in the early 2000’s and of course the 32-4 vcu tourney game At least those games had opponents who got real hot from deep. Tonight we gave up 64 in a half and the opponent hit just one 3-pointer. That’s almost hard to do.

Paulsen did it again. I am so tired of Paulsen's favorite players. Paulsen doesn't want to win. His favorite players create the most turnovers and are the worst defenders on the team. But Paulsen keeps them in the game. Paulsen needs to see what the other players can do. Contrary to popular belief, there are no play makers on this team. A playmaker makes plays for other players. Paulsen's favorites make plays for themselves. Dribbling the shot clock out, turning the ball over, not passing the ball to the hot man. What the f**k is going on?

That's the most disconcerting part of this loss -- the fact that we had a 20 points lead and allowed the other team to speed us up into a series of turnovers that lead to a series of layups and they didn't even have to work all that hard to erase the deficit.

The fact that our two primary ball handlers, a 4 year starter and a 3 year starter, are having so much trouble making good decisions -- and then those bad decisions leads to haphazard and lazy defense -- is the worst thing about the first part of this season.

We should be 3-0 if we just played smart, simple basketball.

Kier has a great game scoring with 20 points on 7-8 shooting, but no college team can win a game when their starting frontcourt turns the ball over a combined 12 times (6 times each). Not only are those lost offensive possessions but they more often than not lead to easy buckets the other way.

Greene also had 5 turnovers -- 17 of the 22 overall turnovers came from those three players. That, to me, says there's a fundamental disconnect between our guards and our forwards who should be acting as pressure valves.

I agree with you guys, you’d think the experience in the guard play would yield good results at this point. It’s puzzling how bad they’ve been, and it’s not like they stepped on the floor yesterday.

Kier's scoring is misleading. He got a lot of those points at the end of the game when Georgia was defending the three point line and left the lane open. Otis, Kier and Greene are too selfish. When they get the ball its all about what they can do for themselves. They don't know how to make their teammates better.

I agree about Kier's scoring, I was trying to find something remotely positive about tonight's game. I thought Grayer had a phenomenal first have. Hopefully, it's a springboard for future games, because this team desperately needs some veteran leadership.
