Richmond is a much nicer place overall than it was even 10 years ago.
As with any city, it has areas where I wouldn't go without Kevlar and a large-caliber handgun, but it's actually drawing a lot of young professionals who prefer the urban lifestyle and an upscale loft condo to a suburban McMansion.
When my kids are out on their own, I'm pretty sure my wife and I are moving down into Shockoe Bottom. A bunch of great restaurants all within walking distance, and as a bonus, I won't have to cut any more f*cking grass.
vcu has also done a remarkable job buying up blighted properties, razing them and putting up dorms and new academic buildings.
I still hate them of course, but after 22 years in the suburbs, the city is growing on me.
What the hell, Jim? Don't defend anything related to Richmond on here.
You think JMU posters would correct someone on DukesDomain if JMU fan called us a commuter school? No. That isn't how this works.

Surprised they would gather at a place like that. Judging from the way they think they are so classy, I would have thought they'd gather at Morton's Steakhouse for pregame Filet Mignon.
It would be awkward to pregame at the place where you work.
It is OK to live there but you must trek up Rt 95 about 18 times per year and spend about 3 hours in the EBA!Richmond is a much nicer place overall than it was even 10 years ago.

At least they won't be at Brion's, sullying up the Alumni Association's pregame tailgating party...vcu fans will be at The Greene Turtle in Fairfax before the game. I suggest getting your heckling in early!
