Smoke and mirrors. We won despite playing the WORST 8 minutes of defense in the Skinn regime to open the game. 20 points in the first 8 minutes is a pace to give up 100. Horrible effort to open the game. But, we found a way to scrap back and win. I'll take it! Attack the rim and good things happen. Nice to meet @patriot2000, I hope your son enjoys the bobblehead. Great to see @gmutom. Miss seeing you at all the games!!!! Great crowd, I wish 5,000 + was the norm.

GIVING DAY 2023
''This team has a lot of heart''

I always think of the 69 New York Mets when someone says that.

These Patriots are just amazin' amazin' amazin'.

I love the amount of new posters on the boards lately--lots of Walk-ons, Three-star Recruits ect. This team is starting the capture the casual fan and I dig it!
And most importantly we won in an exciting game… hoping those fans return.

Why can’t we draw 9,000 or so? Is it marketing? Does the campus not know we’re good?
Arena matters so much. The crowd today (~5k) and the crowd at HoCo (~7k) were both loud and rowdy... but in a building that holds almost 10k, the optics are always going to feel just a bit weak when you pan out.

As an example, Loyola Chicago's building holds just under 5k, and so it always feels packed, even when attendence is just north of 4k. When GMU pulls in 4k, we all flock to these boards and lament the low energy in EBA.

The defensive start was definitely poor - but SJU shot 45% from 3PT while being contested. But Team Tony can win in all kinds of ways. They scrap and they adjust and they don't give up. Buckle up for a heart attack every time they lace 'em up the rest of the way.

Today changed my mind of a long held opinion that if we ever get a new place it should remain at roughly the same capacity. I am all for a ~7,000 seater now.

That being said, very funny bit to take the tarps off so exactly one guy could sit in those sections.
