Not pretty by any means but that’s a solid road win. Clutch free throws by Haynes, Billups and Maddox were the difference. On to the next one.

We got SLU’s best shot for sure. Jimseron probably no 100% but Avila was at his best and the defensive gameplan really limited our opportunities in the paint.

Unfortunately for SLU, Newton decided he was going to be Kobe Bryant tonight and shoot the skin off the ball.

28 seconds in the game, we are up by 6. We turn it over and dumb foul and they score 8 points to our 2 to get it to OT. The coaches need to seriously sit down and review this ending and have a plan on how to close out games better, no excuses... that should of never gone to OT.

Win is a win but that was all on us for a huge choke job.

The way the game was trending, Avila could not be stopped, and Newton cooled down. Mason would have lost without Billups on Avila.

I can't believe there was no backcourt pressure on that last play in regulation. Swope moved the ball across mid-court and took, and made, a looooong three. Shouldn't have allowed it be so easy for him.

The answer is mostly KD just play simple basketball.

1) KD steps on line and turns the ball over because he’s rushing the inbounds to prevent SLU from setting their defense.
2) KD goes for the ball on a long missed 3 and runs right past Jimerson leaving him wide open.
3) KD plays way off Swope (like 4 feet off him) and gives him a clear shot for 3 to tie it. I know he was being screened by Avila as Swope was going up the court but he ran away from him instead of getting up in his face (or better yet just reaching in and fouling him) when he crossed half court.

This literally accounts for the entire run.

We also gave up a ton of offensive rebounds to close this game out. We are lucky SLU was too gassed in overtime to capitalize on most of them.
