This hate is good for the rivalry, which the announcers tell us “is very important.”

Caputo is going to hate coaching against Skinn.

By the way, as bad as our offense was in this game, we held GW to 13 first half points on their home court. That’s insane.
At one point it seemed to me he was yelling at Skinn. Telling him what he needed to do. : )

Id much rather us embrace this than like being nice guys on the court or whatever we've seen in the years past.

Hopefully we have an offensively efficient game on Saturday so we can feel better about that side of the ball.
I'm with you. I appreciate the great defense and winning close games...you can't ignore the offense..Tony has said as much..last week he called his offense awful...he called his offense trash last night!

.Mason's offensive kenpom efficiency ranking has dropped 54 places from 156 to 210 since the 8 day hiatus..they turning the ball over on 22% of their possessions..34th in the nation! The guards are averaging more turnovers than assists per game.

Tony constructed an NCAA roster and stated his goal was an NCAA invite this season.

He's not going to get there with Haynes kicking out to Billups multiple times a game. Billups is career 24% 3pt shooter and only 18.5% this season...

4 games left til vcu...Mason needs to improve dramatically with the ball to get that Quad 1.

At least Tony sees the problem. I am confident our offense and PG play will be better next year (yeah, I know a low bar, but still).
One question I have for offensive minded players is, can you get them to buy in to mega D for 40 minutes?

The offense is bad. Maddox has to show up in games moving forward, no more 6 point games bro.... you gotta put the team on your back and go score the ball. Shoot the damn ball, if not there..... go drive the lane or hit your 10 footer.

TO'S, Inconsistent FT's, missed layups, etc. is going to catch up to us at some point, good teams will make us pay. Going to have to score the ball against St. Louis, vcu, St. Joe's, etc. 55 points is not going to get you a win against these teams.

Billups - Should be given the red light even when wide open, if wide open you drive your a** to the lane and try to make it closer to the basket or draw a foul.
If not wide open, keep passing the ball around and then crash the damn boards to get a rebound. This is all Tony should be telling Billups.... don't care he's a senior and it feels like he rewards him for being a senior and hustler and allows him to shoot whenever... that ship has sailed on trying to develop a shot....stick to what you are good at, shooting is not it.

Need to emphasize to him....1. Take care of the ball 2. Move the ball around and get it to your shooters 3. Go crash and get the rebound

Yes. Maddox has been a disappointment with his shooting. He may lead the team in scoring, but TS says he's the best shooter in the league. Maybe Tony is trying to keep Maddox’s confidence up, but sorry, he's not the best shooter.
I'll gladly eat crowd if he lights it up from here on out.

Completely agree with you here. FWIW- Billups is 2/7 for 3s the last 3 games, at 28% which is above his season average of 20. He also just needs 2 three pointers to tie what he made all of last year. I think his mechanics are good even though I hold my breath every time he shoots like many folks.

Maddox's numbers are definitely down. I will say that he took a foul line jumper during the GW game and he missed it and also missed a free throw which is uncharacteristic of him. Based on what Tony has said, part of this struggle has to be mental at this point. Hes only shooting about 31% from 3 which is about 10% lower than last year. Hopefully teams that don't defend as well, like URI, and being at home will help him out. He did well against Dayton oddly enough but has been quiet since.

Mods, can we get a rule about cross-posting to the vcu boards? @mkaufman1 @HoopsAdmin @POTUS @FFFXCountyPolice
