Gotta think we are a step down from Vermont at this point.

Record wise, obviously yes. But in terms of location and league I'd have to think Mason has them beat. I have no clue what their facilities are etc.

Would you also bring in Wes Miller? He’s had a pretty good recent run at Greensboro and a lot younger.

Possibly, although he took 5 years before he was 10-8 in conf then made the NIT in year 6 and the NCAA in year 7. I'd probably say lets wait the year with Dave to see if he can turn it in year 6 (much like Miller did) if that was our option. Plus hes probably on his way to a bigger job at this point.

I’d take Lonergan in a heartbeat. Dude has proven he can build a winner at this level with worse resources. Who gives a shit if he’s an a**hole? There’s like 2 people on these boards who donate enough to warrant having any kind of personal interaction with the HC. I’ll take a dickhead who can win. And he can’t be so bad, kids were still coming to GW and there weren’t huge exodus of his best players year in year out..

Winning excuses a ton of negative traits.

I think he lost 12 players in 4 years to transfer.

He's making $318k at Vermont. Program-wise, I'm sure he's comfortable, but he's in a one-and-done conference and could make $750-$800k (if we're willing to shell out that kind of cash) in a multi-bid conference.

WE lost to a bunch of freshman today who also have a shitty coach. At least he can recruit. Jesus.

Paulsen doesn't hire guys unless he's coached them? What is Simpkins then? NO wonder he looks like he can't wait to get outta Fairfax. However, he should be staying. Pete Hutch can stay too. But Lil Dave and everyone else gotta go. Paulsen is the Problem.

Plus we don't do well with name Paul. It should go extinct for our program.

Ok fair point. I was just thinking of how Pete/Dane/Bryson/Aaron were under him/knew him for a long time before being on staff.

As opposed to our what, like 9 or something along those lines?

If you count the guys who left when he got here:

Year 0: Lockett, Porter, Jackson, Jackson*, Gilbert*, Holloway$ (x6)
Year 1: 0
Year 2: Abram, Dixon, Murrell, Newman, Relvao$, Temara (x6)
Year 3: 0
Year 4: Grayer^, Reuter$

Total: 14

* decommit
$ left program
^ grad transfer

Am I missing anyone?

I think just Reuter last year if you’d count that?

Yeah, he goes on the left the program spot. Can’t believe I forgot him

Curious how the overall total numbers like you broke them down compare to Paulsen at the end of this year, pretty sure Lonergan was at GW for 5 years? Everyone wants to hate on Lonergan and point at transfers as the measure of failure/shitty behavior but at a glance it looks like we are in a close boat.

Did M Kaufman kill someone or something?

Lmao, no GS II basically didn't understand why I said keep Dave around for another year when someone asked about Wes Miller. I said that if Wes Miller was the option or Dave, I'd keep Dave for year 6. Wes Miller took a while to turn things at UNC Greensboro.

Mike Lonergan:

2012: Guest
2013: Davis, Kromah, Pellom
2014: Reyes, Marakgos, White
2015: Bryant, Griffin, Savage,
2016: Crimino, Jorgensen, Swan
Total: 13

That's what I could find anyway. So, about the same number, but a stready stream of about 3 transfers out per year. He had 1 or 2 transfers in most years too.

If you want to look at the transfers in for Lonergan:

2012: Isaiah Armwood
2013: Ryan McCoy, Maurice Creek
2014: Tyler Cavanaugh
2015: Alex Mitola, Jaren Sina, Patrick Steeves

I drove to Burlington, VT (great town) many years ago to see a GMU season opener vs. Vermont. Great game - Larreanaga coached team pulled it out in OT. Lonergan less than gracious postgame. Quote in the paper the next day basically was Lonergan bemoaning the fact his team had lost to the likes of GMU, as if Vermont was an ACC power or something.

Wouldn't care about any of that if a guy like him could come in and turn GMU around though.

Ah, I wouldn't lose any sleep over that. Doubt you will, lol.
