vcu struggled to beat a St Louis team essentially playing 5 guys only. Game went into OT so hopefully they need 2 days of rest then 1 day to prepare for us.

They basically just wore St. louis out with the press in the second half. First half vcu didn't really put much effort into their press and St. louis was having their way. Second half vcu turned up the pressure and Tillman and Jenkins took over. I think at one point in the final 7 minutes St. louis turned the ball over on 7 straight possessions to lose their 13 point lead.

This is the fear...our players have less of a hard time breaking the press in the backcourt, but are easily suckered into bad positions in the half-court offense and turn the ball over there under pressure situations (sometimes repeatedly).

Yeah that's exactly what vcu is going to want Mason to do. They'll want them to take forever to get over half court, then panic and throw up contested shots out of sync. Mason is going to have to learn how to adapt and figure out 2nd and 3rd options quick.

That said this is a pretty important game for the community. Sell out expected, rivalry etc. Lots of casual fans will probably tune in for this one, so its extra important from that perspective to gain some extra interest.

As usual, I'd rather just Calixte (and maybe AJ as a backup) just play tight defense on Tillman, and if they get beat they get beat. If denying Tillman means giving up 15 3s in the game, I'd rather Tillman score 27 (because he's probably going to score a ton even if we try to overplay him anyway).

Exactly!! Perimeter defense should take precedence.
