I thought the guys played a complete game today. Can't complain when we shoot 52% from the field against the best percentage defense in the country. It is so easy to pick holes in this or that but they played against a very good team on the road and took them to overtime. I do not blame Hewitt for this loss. He put the ball in the hands of his point guard to create which he did for 7 assists again today. Marquise decided to pull up because his opponent backed off and from my vantage point no one else was open. It is a learning experience for Marquise.

As to who was on the court in regulation, I thought the best 5 players in today's gave them a chance to win. Hence, I have no problem with Sherrod sitting. I understand every0ne's frustration (and I have added to the cacophony this season) but I think this was a good game to build on and am hopeful they get their first "w" against a very solid Dayton team on Wednesday.

Sure, flip side is Moore is our point guard who is less likely than those two to turn it over as well, though, and no doubt St. Louis was expecting Allen as well.

Hey, bottom line is Hewitt sucks, don't get me wrong. I stopped liking moral victories weeks ago.

Damn, I've never seen a team play so many tight games, even leading in many of them, and lose them all. It's psychological at this point. We get in that tight game atmosphere and it just gets to the players. If/When we do get that first W I really think it'll change things but until then I'm at a loss for words. On to Wednesday!

bottom line this team just doesn't know how to execute down the stretch. like how the announcer was talking about their guard jett. doesn't have a great shot, turns the ball over a lot, but somehow just gets it done at crunch time and is a winner. mason is the opposite of that. plays (mostly) well for 35 mins. and then tightens up with 5 left.

If we win an A-10 game, I won't believe it until at least 24 hours later. I agree that the Dayton game looks like a good opportunity. In my mind, it all comes down to making key defensive stops for a change.

we're going 0-whatever in the A10. We'll be the laughing stock of the NCAA D1 for years. Recruits are going to stop coming to loserGMU and we'll stop having any brand name recognition. this is our life now.

Did I mention I'm an Eagles / Phillies fan and this is how we see every loss?

I just so tired of moral victories. They played such a good game to have the ball in our hand with a chance to win, and then not get the shot we are looking for or even close to it. Moore on a pull up jumper had to be option 5 or 6.

I liked the rotations today. Once Hewitt sat AO I though he did his best job all year with the subs. At the end we had our best ball handlers in there so
I have no issue with SW sitting, especially with how Pat was scoring. Once again Marquise had a real nice game, love how he gets in the lane and makes things happen. My main issue with todays game is our lack of offensive movement down the stretch. There has got to more in Hewitts bag of tricks then a high ball screen......right? In a terrible season where I've become numb to all the losses, the play of our 2 freshmen has been something to feel good about. Tom, I agree that Hewitt playing AO really is a fireable offense. There should be a designated person on the bench who gets to punch Hewitt right in the dick if he even thinks about putting that kid in the game. On to the next one....

I'm pretty depressed. We played great up to the end.:( Patrick had great running floaters. Jenkins played solid. Turnovers did hurt us. They were able to jump in the passing lane. We are THIS close and it breaks my heart. I think for what it's worth our guys are playing hard for Hewitt. They haven't thrown in the towel. The young kids are what gives me hope. :superhappy: I don't think we are going to have a similar year from Hell next year. We'll bounce back...

Marquise had done a really good job of beating his man off the dribble most of the game and creating for his teammates...so I really don't have a problem with him having the ball at the end there. I'm sure Hewitt's plan was for him to penetrate and either take the lay up or dish off....For a much as we all hammer on Hewitt, there is no chance in hell he drew it up for Marquise to take a jumper. People calling for BA to take that last shot must not have watched us play much over the last 2 1/2 half years, might as well hand it to the other team if you let BA take that drive. MM has by far the best handle on the team, he made several real nice plays off the dribble for others. If and hopefully when MM makes that jumper serviceable he is going to be really good.

You should blame hewitt. It's the same crap every game. If it isn't getting blown out in first 8 mins in first two years, its finding ways to lose. nd this starts with poor recruiting. Thats what you get (today) when you put a player on the floor who can't shoot. So yes, the blame falls on the coach. And it also falls on him and the players for letting Loe hit all those threes. The one when we were up 3 he was wide open. Up three and you leave a scouted three pt shooter wide the F open? Or was he scouted. Who even knows with this clown staff.

It wasn't the last play that lost the game, the damage had already been done by Loe, but rather an inability to turn it up defensively in the last 5 minutes. We had no answer for Jett, we gave up too many offensive rebounds and put them on the line too often.

Instructions for the last play was to start at :07 and MM was to drive and take it, or look for either Holloway or BA coming around screens if he got doubled. Players started it late.

What have you seen from Hewitt in his stint at Mason so far that makes you think this?

I feel sometimes like I'm talking to a bunch of Bigfoot advocates here. There's just no reasoning with them regardless of the mountain of evidence.

Not having a the correct personell either on the roster or in the in-game situations has cost us a great deal of pain with this coach.

It was pretty close to 7 seconds because Jalen got the rebound and his shot would have counted.
