I found only one silver lining- when people leave early because we aren't really in the game in the last 5 minutes (don't be fooled by today's final score, we weren't in the game in the last 10 minutes), traffic getting out of campus was a breeze. So there's that......

We're just a crappy team with a coach who is incapable of making adjustments to make us less crappy. Sherrod and Allen have been great at times for our program, and I thank them for that; but I wont be shedding any tears when the move on.

Wright summed up his season on consecutive possessions in the second half when he threw the ball away and then created a dumb foul out of frustration, and I'm losing track of the number of open layups Allen has missed.

They aren't the sole reason we suck as bad as we do — that ultimately falls on the coach — but I'm tired of being labeled a senior-laden team when our two top senior fail to step up game after game. And even though J2 had several dumb turnovers today, I do give him props for showing up offensively. That's certainly more than we can say for Copes, who once again picked up two early fouls and proved to be a non-factor.

Sure, our seniors have their warts, but how can we bash them when our 4 juniors combined for a stat line of 0-2 1 pt, 2 rebs, 2 TOs, 3 fouls? And, sadly, that probably is close to average for the 4 of them. With Marko disappearing (and frankly he's never actually appeared on the defensive end), we're depending on Jalen, Holloway, Moore (all 3 of whom I really, really like) and 5-6 guys who haven't, or barely in Royal's case, played college ball.

I've kind of given up on the junior class, Dan. Two didn't play today, Copes was a non-factor due to fouls and the other suffers from Okoloji-itis. The future of our program definitely lies with the freshman and sophomore classes as well as the incoming recruits.

7714 in Fairfax today..not bad considering Mason is having a bad year...I have a feeling it will be a sell out often when Mason and GW are both good.

Its funny to sit in the games, and know what is going to happen every single time. To know youll put up some resistance and maybe lead even in the first half, and then when the opposing team comes out with their adjustments....we get to watch it just 100% baffle Hewitt and our players.

Shame to watch what a good hire does to your program with GW and Lonergan and then to sit back and think we had an even better situation to begin with and GMU just shat the bed with our hire and we have watched us sink down the tubes each game since Hewitt took over.

When are we going to be good again?

It won't be that long I don't think. We'll see though.
Its a great little local rivalry type game. Shame that were no longer competitive to enjoy it.

It is, and its a shame that Mason couldn't keep up with GW for 40 minutes. Either the corner will turn ( I know we say that constantly) with the new recruits, or someone else at the helm will attempt to bring us back. The good thing is, is that Mason doesn't have to be #1 in a league to draw in a game like this as even in down years, many people will come out for the novelty, just like the JMU ODU vcu games in years past.

Agreed. At the point where GW started taking the game over, instead of getting mad I just start laughing and enjoying hanging out with whoever I end up taking to the game.

Saw GW go to a zone style and knew that was the end for us. Like a 5 minute draught followed....

Here is the absolute truth in regards to the state of our program. We have one player, Jalen Jenkins, who can compete in the A10. In fact Jenkins has A10 Player of the Year potential, he's that good. The problem is the rest of the team. Holloway will be a nice come off the bench scorer if the scenario is right. Moore is a decent back up point guard with potential to be much better if he can develop a shot that earns the opponents respect. Right now everyone plays off him because they know he can't shoot. The rest of the team is garbage. Our seniors suck and can't/won't/don't know how to make a winning play. Our juniors are in the same boat. Marko is worthless, soft, and weak. He will never be a difference maker. Copes? LOL. Our coach is pathetic. In short TOC, with his knee jerk hire of the failed flavor of the month, has taken a once proud, on the rise program back to the depths of hell and irrelevance. We are doomed for continued failure unless we hire a new coach with fire, passion, and a vision. That coach then has to bring in players with heart, pride, and a willingness to kick a**. 0 - 16 here we come in the meantime.

Moore really surprised me today. Obviously he doesnt have the best shot in the world, but he will not shoot what so ever. He even gave up layups to pass it back out, and refused to shoot a jumper even if he was wide open. He practically guarded himself. Good luck developing a jumper in 3 years while you havent figured it out in the past 19 years.

Our big men are complete failures on defense. They do not know how to defend in any situation. J2 and Copes just get backed up and scored on at will by any big that can dribble a ball, and Marko has no idea whats so ever what defense means. I literally have never seen an offensive player, use the baseline and the bottom of the backboard in their favor like one of their guys did today. Marko had their man tiptoing the sideline, and the kid STILL turned toward the sideline AROUND Marko and jumped underneath the backboard and laid it in. I was taught in 4th grade, as a defender there step out of bounds and straddle the line so the offensive player only has one way to go......our D1 guys have no understanding of bball IQ what so ever.

Bryon Allen and Sherrod Wright are just continuing their stellar seasons and piling up the not top 10 plays. Holloway still prefers the contested 35 foot shot off balance, AO continues to look like a 12 year old who grew a foot and a half over summer and cant even walk right, Copes is challenging Rasheed Wallace in the longest career meanwhile never committing a foul. Our defensive scheme is a freaking joke, added to no player being aware of any other opposing guy on the court. Their ball handler drives, its like watching 5 year olds play soccer....magnetball. Everybody sucks in toward him, leaving a wide open trailer open for a layup/dunk...again.....and again.....and again......and again.

I found myself watching GW and some of their ball movement and plays, thinking wow that was a nice sharp play. Good call there. I watched GW dissect our press like it wasnt even there, and thought wow....nice ball movement. I forgot what it felt like to watch fundamentally sound basketball....sucks it was the opposing team.

Glad I missed this game. My son't team won 48-10, he scored 9 including 5-5 from the FT line, a bunch of boards and a few steals and blocks in 18 mins of court time. Was checking the Mason score throughout his game and checked it 5 mins into the 2nd half to see the typical finish. Oh well.

I'd be worried about someone getting in Jenkins ear and telling him to get the hell out of Fairfax. He sticks out like a sore thumb with his effort, talent and tenacity.

Sure...because it would make perfect sense for him to transfer and lose a year of playing time.

Did you forget he already burned the RS season? Get a clue.
