GIVING DAY 2023
Great win. This starts the rise of gmu and the downfall of Richmond. I don't think they are very good. No way they finish top 5

Phenomenal win. In conference, there has been a bit of losing the games I expect to win and winning the games I expect to lose.

Who cares? The end result is awesome so far this year. These guys have far exceeded expectations. Love the direction of the program.

"George Mason bounced back after their loss to last place Saint Louis with a road win against first place Richmond. Since joining the Atlantic 10 in 2013 Mason is now 5-1 versus the Spiders and today’s win brought them to .500 within the conference at 3-3. Mason got off to a great start in the first half and led by as much as 23 points. They had to fight off a big Richmond run late in the second but their victory on the boards and at the free-throw line prevented them from letting this game slip away. Marquise Moore had his 12th double-double on the season with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and even three blocks. One of which was on 6’9″ TJ Cline that definitely deserves some recognition. Jalen Jenkins had success in the post against Cline and was able to get him into early foul trouble. That gave Mason a chance to build a solid lead for the majority of the game because the rest of the Spiders were struggling from the field. Defensively it was another great effort, as they continue to defend well on the road this season."

The Robins Center is beautiful inside. I don't know what it looked like before the renovation but they did a nice job. I remember reading that we were sending people to look at it for ideas on future patriot center(EBA) renovations, is it possible we do something like that down the road still? I realize it's always about where the funding comes from and that we need a practice facility first.
The first half was a lot of fun to watch it seemed like everything was going right for us. We took their fans out of the game and they were quiet until their late comeback.
I noticed at one point in the second half we had 4 freshmen on the court with Moore which I thought was pretty cool. We had a 20 point lead with 12 minutes to play and I couldn't figure out why we were forcing so many shots and only using about 6 seconds off the shot clock each possession. I felt like it would have been a much easier win if they had passed it around, slowed up the game and used the clock to our advantage.

The problem is you'd have to reduce capacity by a decent chunk to get those corner suites/video boards. While we don't sell out now, if the team gets back to 2011 level we will. Plus graduations and concerts and stuff. We have the biggest school in VA, I doubt they'll want to go below 10,000.

Disagree. Cough up the seats. I'd rather see the place packed and people bitching about tickets. Even if the team is great, we aren't going to pull 10K+ for midweek games in January unless it's against a major opponent.

That's a third of the equation. Concert revenue, commencement ceremonies, etc. the school wants to get to 40,000 +. Can't have a 7,000 seat arena. I'm sure they'd rather put a good product on the floor, sell it out occasionally, get 6500-7000 in there on weekdays and be able to draw bigger concerts/events.

I'll take the win now and worry about being good later. I'd have been shocked if Richmond didn't make it close. You don't just stroll into an opposing arena and blast the other team the entire game....Well, unless that team is Penn State.

Yeah they went from 9,071 to 7,201 when they went under remodel. It makes sense that we don't want to decrease for other events but even at our height we didn't sellout many games(JMU/Homecoming). In comparison to other VA schools vcu is at 7,617, VT is 9,847, UVA is 14,593, ODU is around 9,100.
