Losers lose and winners win. There wasn't a second where uMass didn't think they were going to win. On the flip side, G Mas just tried to hang on...

Again, I still don't know why Hewitt never tried putting CE on Chaz. Allen had no chance to stay in front of him, especially at the end of the game.

Nobody on our team can stay in front of Chaz. Hardly anyone in the country can stay in front of Chaz. Don't put that on Hewitt, jesus.

The sad part is that the zero in the win column in the A10 will probably not be gone anytime soon....Definitely can't complain about the refs. They were plenty kind tonight.

We desperately needed a TO at the end of the game. Should have been in the back of Hewitt or the Assistant's minds...New Mexico situation all over again.

It's a combo of Hewitt making adjustments and the players executing. Can't really tell if Hewitt actually made an adjustment and the players didn't execute it or he "made" an adjustment and it didn't do anything. Not scoring a FG for 6 minutes is a recurring theme for this team and is inexcusable. Not having any TO's at the end of the game is also a mistake....New Mexico alllll over again.

Yep, not having Time Outs at the end of games has been a theme of his for a while, going back to GT.

If a team has a recurring problem, you address it. For instance in yesterdays Miami Herald:

Jim Larrañaga has been coaching basketball for 37 years, but he is the first to admit he doesn’t have all the answers. He never is too proud to seek guidance.
He relies on advice from his assistants and sons, searches through books and movies for inspiration, and when he decided to switch from man-to-man defense to zone this season for the first time in his career, he went straight to his lengthy contact list for pointers.
The University of Miami basketball coach reached out to Ralph Willard, a former Rick Pitino assistant at Louisville who lives in Naples. He also called on Bernie Fine, a former Syracuse assistant of Jim Boeheim’s who lives in Fort Lauderdale. If anyone knows the intricacies of the zone, it is Willard and Fine. Both spent time with UM coaches and gave them a crash course.
“I saw us giving up a lot of easy baskets in our man-to-man and decided, ‘It doesn’t look like this is going to be our bread-and-butter defense,’” Larrañaga said. “It was kind of out of necessity.”
So far, looks like it was a good move.
The Hurricanes, who host rival Florida State on Wednesday night at 9, have won four of their past five games, including a statement win over North Carolina at the Dean Dome last week. They held the Tar Heels to 30.8 percent shooting, and it was the fourth time in a row Miami beat Carolina after going 2-18 against the perennial power. UM (9-6, 1-2 ACC) also put quite a scare into undefeated No. 2 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome before losing by five.

Can you imagine this game if Chaz was healthy? He was laughing about how easy it was to get to the rim with a bad foot.

I'll resist the urge to go with a Bernie Fine/zone joke.

Just hire Bobby Knight. When our players mess up inbounds plays he'll just throw chairs at them...they'll get the message.

Again, we cant finish a game. Instead of 1 half, we play 39 minutes and 30 seconds....

When we need one time, Hewitt cant draw up a good inbounds play. Hewitt cant figure out the zone they swapped to to prevent like a 5 minute scoring draught. Hewitt cant draw up a play to stop Chaz at the end after he just went coast to coast 4 times....

When we need one time, our SENIORS...SENIORS cant hit their free throws. Our SENIORS cant not turn the ball over by stepping on the line while inbounding. Our SENIORS cant get the ball down court for a last second shot without turning it over.

We beat them all night...all night. But we cant have the mental toughness to hang in there and close it out. We cant do that, we hemorrhage away like a 6 point lead with less than a minute to go.

This was the first time I actually cheered and was into a game since the UVA game. Just rips your heart out.

Hewitt is still accountable for this loss.

When we have total control of the game and two of their starters have fouled out, why are we not putting the right man or doubling up on Chaz and letting someone else beat us?
Why is AO in the game with no chance of stopping him coming up the middle? Why are guards just getting the inbound ball and not immediately looking for the second pass, or dribbling because we can't just sit in the backcourt when there is still plenty of time on the game clock?
Why can't we have one damn timeout in the last 20 seconds of a game?

I was looking forward to Sportscenter highlights until the last 17 seconds.
