Check your local listings, as ASN is on a different channel for everyone. Usually, it ends up on The Comcast Network though.

St. Joe's comes in with a 8-6 record after beating Fordham yesterday by a score of 70-55. The schedule is here: http://www.sjuhawks.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=31200&SPID=127360&SPSID=750587

Shevar Newkirk tore his ACL in the GW game on 12/30, and was averaging 20.3 PPG. Lamar Kimble is averaging 14.1 PPG and Charlie Brown is averaging 10.2. PPG. It appears Newkirk's replacement is James Demery and he is averaging 16.0 PPG/6.5 RPG (4 games, 2 starting).

The stats are here: http://www.sjuhawks.com/fls/31200/stats/mbb/1617/teamcume.htm

Last year's box score (87-73 loss in Fairfax) is here: http://gomason.com/sports/2016/1/13/Stats_6794.aspx#GAME.BOX

Discuss.

GIVING DAY 2023
Saint Joe's has had some rotten luck since winning the A-10 tournament and winning a game in the NCAAs last season.

DeAndre Bembry left early for the NBA and Isaiah Miles graduated. Both were all-A10 players.

Sophomore Pierfrancesco Oliva, who would be their starter at the 4, is redshirting after getting hurt in the offseason.

James Demery, a wing who was expected to replace Bembry, has missed most of the season with a stress fracture in his foot.

Once Bembry came back, junior PG Shavar Newkirk suffered a season-ending torn ACL.

Martelli is a very good coach and SJU still has some nice young pieces -- especially freshman wing Charlie Brown -- but this is one we should win even at their place.

In each of our first 3 conference games, we were 50 percent or less to win. With Newkirk gone, this is the first game where we are clearly the better team.

If we can get this W, the schedule sets up for the possibility of a nice run over the next 10. Gotta start stringing wins together if we want a top-half finish.

Jim, I feel like you are just messing with us with your post above. Seriously, like we're going to fall for names like Bembry, Demery, Newkirk and Charlie Brown.

Need to split this trip, as Jim mentioned, our schedule opens up some more opportunities after this.

If we think we are good enough to be middle of the pack, dare I say upper half, we really need to get this one. Even with their injuries, it will be good mentally and PR to have a road win against and established A10 team.

Only 50% or less against UMass? I'm not as confident about this game - SJU looked pretty good in beating Fordham by 15.

I like to split our games into three categories: ones in which we are the clear favorite, 50/50 toss-ups and those in which we are the clear underdog.

Saint Joe's gets a lot of love from the media because they've been successful in the A-10 for a long time, but their performance Saturday was mostly a product of Fordham's ineptitude.

It doesn't guarantee that we will win, obviously, but we have the better team. If we play well, we should be able to control the game.

I saw a bit of the St Joe-Fordham game and agree with Jim. Fordham gambled a lot on defense and gave up a lot of points in transition (much like GW did today when Richmond looked like they would blow them out early in the second half).

Demery did look pretty good, though.

Yep - not the greatest conditions to be getting out of Olean this morning. Lake Effect snow wasn't fun to deal with. I imagine it was a long day of travel. Beat St. Joe's!

Comcast usually picks up the Mason ASN games? Assuming I won't get this on TV in the New York area.
